In this world, people often find themselves in conflict because they hold differing views on what is right and what is wrong. Because their perspectives, methods, and intentions do not align, they fail to reach a consensus. Consequently, they are unable to walk together toward the same noble goal. This disharmony creates obstacles in our lives and hinders our collective progress on the path of practice.
We must ask ourselves: What truly defines right, and what defines wrong? What is the standard for what is correct, and what is erroneous? In the context of our spiritual practice, the answer is clear: we must take the as our teacher. To uphold the Precepts is to be right; to break the Precepts is to be wrong.
When we speak of the achievements of spiritual practice, we refer to those who have reached and attained Buddhahood. For these beings, the limitations of space and time have opened up, allowing them to perceive the immeasurable and boundless worlds that exist throughout the Realm. When the : eyes, ears, nose, tongue, body, and mind are fully purified and manifest their true nature, everything these beings see, hear, say, and do is dedicated to one purpose: to save beings and help them leave suffering behind.
The words they speak are the words of Truth; they do not engage in false speech. The teachings they provide are the actions of Truth; they are never illusory or deceptive. However, to those who have not yet heard or witnessed such profound states, these truths may seem impossible or even delusional. They may mistakenly believe that what is real is false. Yet, these states are truly and undeniably real. They are not fabrications, but the highest reality.
When someone who has not yet reached this level of understanding slanders these teachings as false or criticises these actions as wrong, we must ask: Who is truly right, and who is truly wrong? To determine the answer, we must not rely on our own limited, subjective opinions. Instead, we must rely on the following foundations:
At this very moment, Namo Amituofo is residing here at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. Therefore, we must rely entirely upon the words of Namo Amituofo. Namo Amituofo is the Universal Buddha, the embodiment of the entire Dharma Realm. The presence of Namo Amituofo here serves several vital purposes:
When Namo Amituofo provides teachings, they are always perfectly suited to the time, the place, and the capacity of the audience. These teachings are delivered in accordance with the and the causes and effects of each individual. As practitioners, we must be diligent in our practice. We should chant Namo Amituofo, perform prostrations, recite the Sutras, and act according to the Buddha’s words. This is what it means to uphold the Precepts, and this is the path that leads to Awakening.
If you find that your practice is progressing, you are on the right path. If you find that your practice is regressing, you have strayed into error. The distinction between right and wrong becomes clear when you measure your progress against these standards. Let us commit ourselves to following the Buddha, working tirelessly to save immeasurable and boundless beings, and helping them leave suffering behind to find rebirth in the Western Pure Land. Namo Amituofo.
