The Stillness Within the Storm

In the course of your spiritual practice, you may encounter moments of difficulty at any time. It is a natural part of the journey. When such moments arise, if your heart remains steady and you do not allow your actions to be swayed by agitation, you can transform the situation and find a path to resolution. The key to resolving these difficulties lies in keeping your heart unmoved, for an unmoved heart does not stir the seeds of .

The Cycle of Karma and Attachment

If your heart becomes agitated, your karma will manifest. When your and attached spirits appear, suffering inevitably follows. When you are trapped in such difficulties, at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we offer the method of inviting spirits to hear the . This is a form of transformation. However, if after inviting these spirits, your personality surfaces and your heart becomes restless again, they will reappear, and you will find yourself trapped in the same cycle, requiring you to invite them once more. The fourfold assembly often encounters this situation, where the same struggles repeat themselves because the root of the agitation has not been addressed.

The Power of True Transformation

I hope that the fourfold assembly, regardless of the time or the circumstances you face, can maintain a steady and peaceful heart, for this is how you cease these difficulties. If you can transform your heart, your vows, and your practice, you will be able to end these difficulties:

  • Transform your heart: Deepen your faith in Namo Amituofo, ensuring it is free from doubt, arrogance, resentment, or regret.
  • Transform your vows: Shift your focus away from . Dedicate your deep, sincere heart to the service of all beings, joining the Buddhas in the work of saving countless suffering beings.
  • Transform your practice: Move beyond personal gain and act entirely for the benefit of others.

From Confusion to

At the turning point of your practice, you must consciously shift your state of being. This is the essence of true progress:

  • Complexity to Simplicity: Let go of the tangled webs of the mind and return to a simple, focused state.
  • Evil to Goodness: Replace negative tendencies with the light of Goodness.
  • Pollution to Purification: Wash away the stains of the world to reveal your original, pure nature.
  • No Affinity to Dharma Affinity: Transform your connections with others from mere emotional entanglements into deep, spiritual bonds rooted in the Dharma.
  • Self-Centredness to Selflessness: Move from a heart of attachment to a heart of , and from private interest to a spirit of total selflessness.
  • Darkness to Light: Transform the demon into the Buddha, and the darkness into light.

Furthermore, you must apply the core pillars of the path to your daily life:

  • Discipline: Use the to stop the fires of greed and transform them into the practice of Generosity.
  • Concentration: Use meditative concentration to calm the fires of anger and transform them into .
  • Wisdom: Use Wisdom to shatter the darkness of ignorance and transform it into the supreme Prajna.

When you can achieve these transformations, you will have truly reached a successful turning point in your journey toward Awakening.
