Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

February 1, 2026.

Namo Amituofo speaks: "Even if dwells in the midst of all suffering, such a vow shall never retreat." This verse originates from the profound vows made by during his causal stage of practice. Even when the body is plunged into the deepest suffering, akin to the torments of the hells, the vow to save all countless suffering beings remains unshaken and absolute.

The Eternal Vow of the

Dharmakara Bhikshu lived entirely by his vows. For five kalpas, even while enduring immense suffering, his vow and his practice never faltered for a single moment. This is the true path for any practitioner who has made a vow—to live it out in every action, every thought, and every breath. It is a commitment that transcends the limitations of the physical body and the challenges of the material world.

The Union of Vows and Practice

Many practitioners struggle because they do not understand the vital relationship between their intentions and their daily actions. Consider these three essential truths regarding the path of practice:

  • If you have a vow but do not act upon it, it remains merely an empty vow, lacking the power to transform your life or the lives of others.
  • If you act without a clear, compassionate vow, you have no direction; your heart will feel unstable and lost, and ultimately, you will find that your efforts lead to no meaningful result.
  • If you have both a sincere vow and consistent practice, guided by a true teacher, your vow will surely be fulfilled, and your path to will be clear.

The Purest Environment for Growth

Here at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, where Namo Amituofo is residing here, the vow of Namo Amituofo is manifest in every corner. This is a sanctuary where the light of the Buddha shines brightly, providing the perfect conditions for the fourfold assembly (monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen) to cultivate their practice. When you are in this environment, you are supported by the very energy of the Buddha's .

Walking the Path of the Buddha

Those who possess a vow like that of Namo Amituofo are one with the Buddha-heart, the Buddha-vow, and the Buddha-actions. They are protected and guided by Namo Amituofo and the Dragon and Heaven Protectors. I ask the fourfold assembly (monks, nuns, laymen, laywomen): Is your vow as firm as that of Namo Amituofo? Can you say that even in the face of great adversity, your heart remains unmoved?

Practitioner Su is such a person. Because of his unwavering commitment, he receives the blessing and guidance of Namo Amituofo, moving forward step by step to save all countless suffering beings. If you, too, can maintain this vow—to remain steadfast even when the body dwells in the midst of suffering—you will receive the of Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, Practitioner Su, and the protection of the Dragon and Heaven Dharma Protectors as you continue your journey.
