The Living Example of Practitioner Su
Consider the example of Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. For over thirty years, Practitioner Su has maintained an unwavering vow to save himself and to save all beings, guiding them toward rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Now at the age of eighty, he has attained the freedom to travel back and forth to the Western Pure Land at will. Yet, he remains in this world to help all beings leave suffering behind and find happiness.
Practitioner Su has taken on the immense task of performing for demonic beings, helping them escape the demon path, turn from evil toward goodness, and leave the influence of demons to embrace the Buddha. He has provided them with a chance for rebirth. In doing so, he has endured the physical suffering of being attacked by the spells of these demonic beings, yet his vow to save them from their suffering has never retreated. Through his compassion, he has already saved countless demonic beings, helping them find peace and happiness.
The fourfold assembly of disciples should emulate the teachings and the life of Practitioner Su, who embodies the practice of Faith, Vows, and Practice. If you can maintain an unwavering vow and achieve success in your practice, it will be a great blessing and a great fortune for all beings.
