The Emptiness of Vows Without Action

Namo Amituofo teaches us that no matter how grand or noble your vows may be, if they are not supported by actual practice, they remain empty and unfulfilled. Consider this: even the most breathtaking scenery in the world remains unseen if you never make the journey to witness it with your own eyes. In the same way, your spiritual aspirations require the steady, grounded steps of daily practice to manifest into reality.

Within the foundational principles of the Buddha’s teachings, we find the essential framework of Faith, Vows, and Practice. Whether we look at the path of Right Faith and Right Understanding or the path of faith, aspiration, and practice, the element of 'Practice' is always present. This highlights its critical importance in your journey along the Buddha’s path.

The Necessity of Diligent Practice

Without practice, your vows are difficult to realise. Without practice, your understanding of the is difficult to verify. Most importantly, without consistent practice, the goal of rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss becomes difficult to achieve. Therefore, actual practice is the fundamental condition for every practitioner to attain success. If you do not apply yourself through concrete actions, your spiritual growth will remain stagnant.

  • Practise without regret:
  • Move forward with a heart that is fully committed, never looking back.Practise with persistence:
  • Maintain a steady, unwavering rhythm in your daily life.Practise with courage:
  • When you encounter tests or challenges, face them directly rather than seeking to escape.Practise with an unmoved mind: Whether you are met with praise or slander, remain calm and composed.

The Internal Transformation

You must come to realise that is merely a temporary vessel, while the true, unmoved heart is the reality. Whether your practice is successful depends not on external circumstances, but on the state of your inner world. The purification of your heart, the cultivation of pure goodness, and the development of deep for the suffering of all beings are the reasons why your practice becomes powerful, purposeful, and grounded.

The Pure Land path is a method of two powers: your own self-effort combined with the compassionate support of Namo Amituofo. It is only when you exert your own effort that the Buddha’s power can truly be received and integrated. This is the profound significance of actual practice.

Applying the Teachings at Hsiang Kuang

At the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you are provided with constant guidance. Through the daily teachings of Namo Amituofo, the wisdom shared by our teachers, and the clear explanations provided by Practitioner Su, you are frequently reminded of the areas in your life that require change. I invite the fourfold assembly of disciples to listen deeply, taking these words into your hearts. You must put them into actual practice and truly change your ways. Only then will you receive the genuine benefits of the Dharma and prove yourself to be a practitioner of true wisdom.

Please cherish this rare opportunity to refine your heart and mind. By doing so, you will enter into a state of Body-Mind-Spirit coordination, and the time for your own will surely come to pass. Namo Amituofo
