The for Rebirth
Namo Amituofo’s discourse teaches us that the Vows of the Heart are central to our spiritual journey. To achieve rebirth in the of Ultimate Bliss, one must rely upon the three essential provisions: Faith, Vows, and Practice. Faith in the Buddha and faith in one's own original nature are the primary requirements. Vows serve as the guiding light for our actions, and when we engage in diligent practice, we are supported by the boundless power of Namo Amituofo.
Aligning with the Forty-eight Great Vows
The Vows of the Heart are not merely fleeting thoughts; they are the sincere, unwavering commitments made by during his causal practice. He vowed, "Even if I must dwell amidst all forms of suffering, such a vow of the heart shall never retreat." Because he possessed profound faith, sincere vows, firm determination, and true practice, he was able to fulfill every one of his promises. He established the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and for the past ten kalpas, he has been tirelessly working to save infinite beings.
Today, within the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, there are those who have already been saved and those who are waiting to be saved. You must all issue your own Vows of the Heart, ensuring that your intentions are filled with sincerity, , and wisdom.
The Synergy of and
In this defiled and evil world of suffering, beings carry heavy . It is rare for individuals in the human world to achieve spiritual success through self-power alone. However, when you follow the Pure Land Gate, your Vows of the Heart can align with the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo. When you cannot bear to see beings suffer and you vow that they may find peace and happiness, you receive the blessing of the Buddha's power. By combining your own efforts with the Buddha's power, you can help the vows of all beings reach fruition much sooner.
Nevertheless, the first priority is to seek your own liberation. Only after you have saved yourself, received the Dharma, and attained a stable state of realization, will you have the true capacity to save other beings without being pulled back into the cycle of rebirth by their karmic influences.
Extending Compassion to All Realms
The Vows of the Heart are not limited to the human world. Your compassion and your vows can extend to all corners of the Dharma Realm, including:
- The heavenly realms, where beings enjoy temporary bliss but still face the cycle of rebirth.
- The Asura realm, where pride and conflict often obscure the truth.
- The hells, where suffering is most intense and the need for salvation is greatest.
- The hungry ghost realm, where beings are consumed by insatiable craving.
- The animal realm, where ignorance dominates the mind.
- The Four Sacred Realms, where advanced practitioners continue their journey toward Buddhahood.
- The beings across the Milky Way and other planetary systems, and even the demon crowds, all of whom are capable of being saved.
Just as the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo encompass all beings throughout the ten directions and all the countless Buddha worlds, your own vows should be equally vast and inclusive.
Walking the Path Step by Step
Your Vows of the Heart must be realised through a process of walking step by step toward the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. You will encounter challenges and obstacles, but it is precisely through your fiercely diligent practice and your courage in facing and overcoming these hurdles that your vows will be realised. Stay focused, remain steadfast in your practice, and let your heart be a beacon of light for all beings. Namo Amituofo.
