Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded and transcribed by Namo Amituofo’s disciple, Venerable HaiZe.

On the ninth of February, 2025, during the noon offering, Namo Amituofo provided the following discourse:

The Gentle Flow of Causal Conditions

In this world, do not force connections. The arising and ceasing of all things are governed by the laws of and cause and effect. You must learn to follow the natural flow of Causal Conditions and allow everything to unfold as it should. By following these conditions, you can resolve old karma without creating new suffering. If you clearly understand the truth of this reality, you should learn to let go. Do not continue to suffer within the cycle of karma.

The Divergent Paths of Worldly and Affinity

It is important to understand that Dharma affinity is fundamentally different from worldly connections. Worldly connections operate within the cycle of karma, while Dharma affinity operates within the Buddha’s teachings. Dharma affinity is a magnificent connection because it has the power to guide all sentient beings toward:

  • Liberation from the cycle of birth and death.
  • Leaving suffering behind to find true happiness.
  • Transcending the six realms of existence.
  • Realising one's true nature and attaining Buddhahood.

Dharma affinity also follows the process of arising and ceasing, and it operates according to the laws of karma and cause and effect. It is because you planted the seeds in the past that you have the opportunity to encounter this path now. This is a precious, good connection. When the manifestation of spiritual connections appears, you must seize the moment to engage in fiercely diligent practice. You must work to remove impurities, attain purity, and change personality traits so that you may realise your true nature.

Refining the Heart through Diligent Practice

Do not force anything; let all things proceed according to the natural order. When Causal Conditions mature, the results will manifest naturally; when they are not yet ripe, the results will be difficult to achieve. Everything operates within the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. When you experience physical or mental sensations, you must learn to let go of them. Do not look for faults or speak of faults. Instead, focus on thinking of what is good, seeing what is good, and speaking of what is good. This is the natural way to resolve your own suffering, and it is the behaviour of a wise person. Spiritual practice is, at its core, the practice of refining your own heart.

The Radiant Manifestation of the Fragrant Light

If you are working with others and conflicts arise, regardless of who is right or who is wrong, the correct path is to change your ways. Do not force others to change. This is the path of a wise person. The Dharma affinity at Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre is manifesting now because Namo Amituofo truly abides here. This is a magnificent time for beings in the six realms of existence, the human world, and the Dharma Realm to attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land. I encourage all of you to come forward quickly and grasp this magnificent opportunity.
