The Foundation of True Respect

True respect originates from within the heart. It is not merely a social convention, but a profound recognition of the truth. You must understand that every single being possesses the same true self and Buddha-nature as you do. However, because they have become lost in the cycle of being reincarnated, they now manifest with different appearances, personalities, and habits. These differences are merely the result of their long journey through the cycle of rebirth, not a reflection of their original, pure essence.

The Mirror of Self-Reflection

When you observe others whose Body, Speech, and Mind seem difficult to control, or when you witness them engaging in behaviour that causes interference for the community, you might feel inclined to judge. Perhaps you see them expressing views or methods that you find difficult to accept. When you see them creating negative causes and suffering the resulting evil consequences, you must pause and reflect. You should look into the mirror of your own heart and ask yourself: Am I also one of them? Am I perhaps caught in a similar situation without even realising it? Could it be that I am currently engaging in behaviour, speech, or thoughts that are even more difficult to control or that violate the ?

The Greatest Beneficiary of

My children, you must understand that to respect and accommodate others is, in truth, to respect and accommodate yourself. When you choose to offer respect and tolerance to another person, the negative emotions and behaviours within your own heart are also granted forgiveness and respect. In this process, you are actually the greatest beneficiary. Once you understand this situation, you should consciously cultivate a heart of respect and tolerance for others. Let this heart guide your actions. Because of this change in your behaviour, you will find that others will naturally begin to treat you with respect and tolerance as well. This cycle of kindness will inevitably lead to the elevation of your own spiritual life.

The Peril of Stagnation

In the path of practice, the greatest danger is the inability to see one's own problems, allowing them to persist indefinitely. Even if you are aware of your own shortcomings, if you find it difficult to change your ways, you will continue to create negative causes and reap evil consequences. This process repeats itself endlessly, continuing through sickness, old age, and even into your next life. How regrettable this is! You must strive to break this cycle.

Honouring the Spiritual Life

Respecting living beings means respecting all beings and their inherent spiritual life. This is the duty of every practitioner and every person who possesses true awareness. It is the path that leads from delusion to , from wrong paths to the right path, and from impurity to purity. By honouring the spiritual essence in everyone you encounter, you align yourself with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. Namo Amituofo.
