The Wisdom of the Buddha: Transforming Your Energy Field
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
The Nature of Our Internal Energy
An energy field is essentially the manifestation of the energy radiating from within one's own body. This energy is not uniform; it can be categorised into three distinct types: positive energy, negative energy, and energy that is neither inherently good nor evil. Whether we perceive this energy as good or evil depends entirely on the discriminations made by our heart and our .
For human beings, the energy field within is remarkably intricate. This is because our bodies are not inhabited by a single entity, but by a vast multitude of beings, each possessing a different character and nature. Because these beings radiate different types of energy, the resulting energy field within our physical form is a tapestry of many conflicting forces. However, it is vital to understand that this energy field is not static; it changes constantly, shifting in accordance with the state of our heart and mind.
The Struggle for Mastery
We must recognise that our physical body is composed of the four great elements—earth, water, fire, and wind—which have come together due to various Causal Conditions. It is a gathering place for different beings who have converged at this specific time and place. The critical question for every practitioner is: who is truly in charge of this body?
If your true self is the one in command, the energy field radiated by your true self will influence all the beings residing within your body. Conversely, if your true self has surrendered control to the beings within, it indicates that the energy field of those beings is stronger than your own. In such a state, your body is dominated by the energy radiated by these internal beings, rather than by your own original nature.
The Radiance of the Awakened
The energy fields radiated by Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, ancestral masters, and those who have realised their true nature are fundamentally different. Their energy is characterised by several sublime qualities: purity, a state free from the defilements of worldly attachment; stability, a profound and unshakeable meditative concentration; , a natural and boundless happiness that arises from within; , a heart that seeks only to alleviate the suffering of others; wisdom, the clear and unobstructed insight of the true nature; and equality, a perspective that views all beings without discrimination or bias.
These beings remain undisturbed by external environments. The Buddha-light within them brings forth a bright, peaceful, and positive energy that can subdue negative energy fields. Through this power, they can transform their environment into a space of pure goodness and luminous energy. This Buddha-light is the most virtuous and pure form of positive energy in the universe.
Transforming the Darkness
In contrast, the demon crowds possess personalities that are rigid and difficult to subdue. Their behaviour is often intense, driven by a high desire for control and a strong sense of subjectivity. Consequently, they radiate a powerful, negative energy field, and the light within their bodies appears dim and murky. This is the antithesis of the Buddha-light.
However, the Buddha’s teachings are designed to regulate the heart and transform one's character. If you can regulate your heart and change your personality traits, your energy field will inevitably change as well. Every practitioner radiates different energy based on the state of their heart, thereby creating a unique energy field.
The Path to Purification
For those with open eyes who can perceive these energies, it is clear that the energy radiated by Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and those who have realised their true nature can turn a negative energy field into a positive one. It can gradually transform murky, dark energy into bright, luminous light. This transformation extends to our Body, Speech, and Mind: our body performs more good deeds, reflecting a heart of compassion and wisdom; our speech becomes gentle, leading to a life of harmony and peace; and our mind becomes pure and virtuous, free from the desire to harm ourselves, others, or the bodhimanda.
Ultimately, we may even reach a state of no-thought and selflessness, where our only focus is to chant Namo Amituofo. If you wish to change your energy field—for instance, to overcome of or to clear the energy of your space—you must begin by regulating your heart and changing your personality traits. The methods to achieve this are simple yet profound: chanting Namo Amituofo, the most direct way to align with the Buddha’s light; prostrations, a humble act to dissolve arrogance and purify the body; and reciting the Sutras, to absorb the wisdom of the Buddha into your consciousness.
Use these methods diligently, and you will find the Buddha's working within you. With a compassionate heart and diligent practice, you will be able to transform your own energy field, and the beings within your body will also be transformed. This is the true mark of success in your practice.
