Interview with Dr. Helmut Sohmen (Former Chairman of BW Group)
Since time immemorial, the void has stood as a silent witness to the grand cycle of the universe. It has observed countless stars as they undergo the processes of formation, existence, decay, and emptiness. The arising and ceasing of all beings, and the shifting patterns of their Causal Conditions, are all governed by the law of impermanence. Nothing in the physical realm remains static; everything is in a constant state of flux.
The lifespan of these celestial bodies varies greatly. Some stars endure for trillions of years, while others exist for only a century or a few decades. Yet, when viewed from the perspective of the vast, eternal void, even the longest-lasting star is like a fleeting flower that blooms and vanishes in an instant. Some stars appear in the high reaches of the cosmos only to be extinguished in a heartbeat, even though, within their own relative time, they may have existed for eons. Does this mean the void itself has existed for an incredibly long time? The truth is that no one can truly know when the void began or how long it has existed. It is a question that remains without an answer, for the void transcends our limited concepts of time.
While the physical universe is subject to the laws of arising and ceasing, the spirit of every being is fundamentally different. Your spirit is unborn and undying. Your true self-nature exists eternally, unaffected by the birth and death of stars or galaxies. Therefore, you must realise that your spirit is without beginning or end. You are not merely a product of this physical world; you are a being of infinite existence.
In this life, which is but a small part of your journey through the beginningless and endless cycle of time, you face a critical choice. Will you allow yourself to be controlled by the forces of , the cycle of being reincarnated, and the shifting Causal Conditions of the world? Or will you choose to master your own ? With the power of the Body, you can travel freely to any corner of the Dharma Realm, the void, or the Earth, and return at will to the of Ultimate Bliss, where your true self-nature resides in perfect clarity and peace.
Everything that occurs within the void is a manifestation of impermanence, changing in the blink of an eye. The only thing that remains constant and true is the human body, when it is used as a vessel to seek and rediscover one's true self-nature. At Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you have been given the perfect environment to achieve this. This is the time to take charge of your own destiny and return to your true self.
The void itself wishes to see all of you succeed. Under the compassionate guidance of and Practitioner Su, you have the opportunity to find your true self-nature once again. Through the power of the Dharma Body and the practice of , you can transcend the limitations of the physical world and roam freely throughout the void and the Dharma Realm. Do not let this precious opportunity pass you by. Embrace the teachings, purify your heart, and walk the path that leads back to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
