The Infinite Expanse of the Realm
Throughout the beginningless past and the endless future, within the vastness of the Dharma Realm, there exist immeasurable and boundless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Everywhere in this infinite space, there are countless Buddha-lands. These lands were formed at different times and exist across various levels of space. In each of these realms, there are Buddhas who carry out the work of teaching and transforming sentient beings and the inhabitants of those worlds.
Because of the varying conditions and states of these beings, these realms are categorised into different types: Pure Lands, which are realms of absolute purity and goodness; Impure Lands, where suffering and defilement still persist; and mixed lands, where purity and impurity coexist.
The Unique Purity of the of Ultimate Bliss
The Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss is a realm of pure goodness, entirely free from any form of pollution or defilement. Even when beings enter this land while still carrying their past , that karma is never triggered. Because the environment is so pure, there is no manifestation of karmic forces or the appearance of negative karma. In other pure lands, the inhabitants have already removed all defilements and attained purity, leaving behind the appearance of karma entirely.
However, those who enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, regardless of the time or space from which they originate, are supported by the power of Namo Amituofo’s Forty-eight Great Vows. Specifically, through the vow of attaining certain , they are empowered to practise and eventually become a Buddha within that sacred realm.
The Promise of Boundless
All who come to my land shall be saved. This is the practical application of the vow to save all boundless suffering sentient beings. It is a promise that is fulfilled through actual practice and compassionate action. The path to liberation is open to everyone who seeks it with a sincere heart.
