Teachings from Namo Amituofo

The Weight of Cravings
Namo Amituofo teaches that to leave desire behind is to deepen our right . When we speak of desire, we refer to the cravings and greed that bind beings of the six paths to the cycle of rebirth. Driven by these unfulfilled longings, beings commit various sins, creating heavy that keeps them tethered to suffering.
For a practitioner, the presence of desire is not merely a distraction; it is an engagement of the mind that creates impure karma. Every time a craving arises, it creates a ripple in the heart that directly hinders spiritual progress. Therefore, the attitude a practitioner must cultivate is one of few desires, contentment, and ultimately, a state of no desire where one remains at ease in any situation.
The Shield of Right Mindfulness
To leave desire behind is to enter the depth of right mindfulness. By distancing yourself from greed, you align your heart with positive thought power. This prevents you from falling into the traps of wrong thoughts and harmful discriminations, ensuring your actions remain in harmony with the Universal Principles, Truth, and the Right Path.
When right mindfulness is firmly planted within your heart, it acts as a protective shield. It becomes difficult for biased thoughts or external interference to disturb your inner peace. By maintaining this state, you distance yourself from the —wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep—that lead to the hells.
The Path to
The goal of practice is to realise your true nature and attain Buddhahood. To achieve this, you must not be led astray by the pull of desire. Once you have undergone purification, the fruits of right mindfulness will manifest. Often, when we feel a strong desire, it is merely seeking satisfaction or the influence of past karma. You must be swift to let go of these desires; as soon as you release them, right mindfulness will emerge.
The Constant Stream of the Buddha-Name
Chanting the Buddha-name 24/7 is the most wonderful method for leaving desire behind. As you chant, you remain under the constant protection of the Buddha's . Chanting then becomes a continuous, flowing stream that never stops, allowing you to transcend and remain free from the agitation of wandering thoughts.
As you move toward a life of few desires, you will find that your practice of Discipline, meditative concentration, and Wisdom begins to flourish. In this state of purity, your Wisdom will manifest, allowing you to follow the flow of life with ease. This is how you elevate the quality of your spirit and walk firmly upon the path to realise your true nature and attain Buddhahood. Namo Amituofo.
