As the relentless river of time flows onward, have you paused to notice the subtle, steady signs of your own aging? It is a process that touches every one of us, yet we often remain distracted by the illusions of the material world. When you close your eyes at night, do you find yourself slipping into a state of ? The speed at which our enters into other spaces is truly astonishing, is it not? Does this sudden transition not fill you with a sense of wonder or perhaps even a quiet alarm?
Furthermore, have you felt the sudden onset of illness, leaving you caught unprepared and filled with a deep, existential fear for which you had no psychological defence? These moments of vulnerability are not merely obstacles; they are wake-up calls from the universe, urging us to look beyond the surface of our daily lives.
True and lasting growth only emerges from the crucible of profound suffering. If our development were always easy, if everything were simply handed to us without any effort, we would surely lose the capacity to cherish the precious gifts we receive. Life is a journey that we travel but once. If we could truly turn back the clock and begin again, the human world would not be filled with so many lingering regrets.
This is why the guidance of a true spiritual friend is so vital. Their words are not merely suggestions; they are hard-won wisdom, distilled from their own life experiences and the very essence of their existence. You must treat their advice with the utmost seriousness:
By doing so, you will find that your practice gains a new, vital momentum that will carry you through the most difficult of times.
We must be particularly mindful when the great trials of aging, sickness, and death manifest before us. These are the ultimate tests of our practice. If we are not prepared, we may experience a regression in practice, which poses a significant threat to our spiritual progress. Therefore, you must act quickly to improve yourself and change your personality traits.
Take the time to honestly examine your own character and identify the traits that require transformation. The more you can uncover those subtle, unconscious habits that hinder your progress, the more you will be able to help yourself. If you have a sincere heart to change your ways, you must reflect deeply on your past mistakes and take the lessons to heart. Do not repeat the same errors.
To truly change your ways is to show to yourself and to all beings. This is the path you must walk until you reach the state of an awakened being. This is how you truly repay the kindness of the Buddha, your teachers, your true spiritual friends, your parents, and all living beings. Let us walk this path with diligence, keeping the name of in our hearts at every moment.
