Rectifying Body and Mind
Interview with Dr. Helmut Sohmen (Former Chairman of BW Group)
My children, as long as you still have a single breath remaining in this body, there is still time. There is still time to chant the Holy Name "". When you chant, let each recitation follow the last, continuous and unbroken, like a flowing stream. This is how you hold tightly to the Buddha, ensuring that your connection remains firm and unwavering.
Do not allow yourself to fall back into the cycle of rebirth, wandering endlessly through the six realms of existence. Instead, you must strive to enter the of Ultimate Bliss. In that sacred realm, you will be forever liberated from suffering. You will no longer endure the pains of this world, but will only receive all happiness. It is your duty to teach this truth to all suffering beings, so that they too may hear the message and understand the path to salvation.
When you reach the final moments of your life, as long as your mind remains clear and you are able to invoke the Holy Name "Namo Amituofo", your vow to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss will not falter. My is boundless. According to the Eighteenth Vow within my Forty-eight Great Vows, if you chant the name with a sincere heart—even if it is only for one thought, or up to ten thoughts—you will be in perfect sync with me. I will manifest before you to guide you into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. By doing so, you will not have lived this life in vain, for you will have attained the Buddha's salvation.
While you still have breath, there is still time to seek repentance and resolution with your —both those from your accumulated lifetimes and those present in your life today. You must repent for the negative created in the past and pray for the spirits residing within your body to save themselves and leave suffering behind. At the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I am always emitting light to guide these spirits. As long as you chant the name and make the vow to be reborn in the West, you will surely reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is a rare opportunity, difficult to encounter in millions of years, for all the beings within your body to be saved.
You must act quickly to resolve your grievances with other beings in this life, for if you do not, the weight of your karma will remain. Although it is possible to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss while carrying your karma, the unresolved debts with other beings will persist. If you were to appear in this world again, those karmic debts would still be there, and you would inevitably face the consequences of settling these accounts. While you still have breath, there is still time to transform your heart and your thoughts. If you thoroughly change your personality, your karma will naturally transform along with it, and the spiritual quality of your spirit will rise accordingly.
When you finally depart this life and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, you will naturally arrive at the level of the Four Lands, Three Grades, and Nine Levels that corresponds to your spiritual quality. This is the natural order of things, the natural manifestation of your own heart. While you still have breath, there is still time!
