A Father's Journey from Hell to the Western Pure Land

This is an interview with the spirit of Lay Practitioner Han Chuanxin, the father of Lay Practitioner Han Jie. He sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This testimony was recorded on April 17, 2026, by the chief writer, Fa Ning.

Han Chuanxin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am deeply grateful to you, Practitioner Su. I am also profoundly grateful to the two Buddhas for granting me such a magnificent opportunity to arrive here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is truly a wondrous thing to be able to see the people of the human world so clearly from here, while existing in a realm that is entirely different from theirs. Now, my eyes are wide open; I can almost know everything, just as a Buddha does—ha! That is simply how it is in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is a world where every wish is fulfilled; whatever I desire appears, and whatever I wish to know, I immediately understand. My spirit is now completely at ease. I am no longer bound by that physical body, which used to constrain me, cloud my thoughts, and force me to carry all sorts of personality flaws. I will absolutely never walk that path again. Now, following the Buddha with a heart full of gratitude, I have found the best home I could ever have in my entire existence."

The Miracle of Deliverance

"At the same time, I am incredibly grateful to my child for performing this Chao Du for me. This is truly an inconceivable event. The reason I was able to be saved as a departed spirit, enter the Western Land of Dharma Nature, and subsequently reach the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, is entirely due to the compassion of Practitioner Su. She applies her own hard-won attainment of Awakening to the work of saving the world, which is the only reason so many suffering spirits have the chance to attain liberation. For this magnificent Causal Condition, I wish to express my heartfelt gratitude to everyone.

I am Han Chuanxin. I believe I have already introduced myself, but what you may not know is that after I died, I truly and physically descended into the hells. In the human world, the word 'hell' sounds terrifying, but in the spiritual realms, it is actually quite common. Many people have descended into the hells, and many have risen from them to be reborn as humans once again. Yet, I am one of the truly fortunate ones. I was led directly by Practitioner Su to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, where I no longer have any afflictions or suffering. I have cast everything from the past behind me and am now living a completely different life. This is a source of immense joy for me. As a father, I want to share this happiness with my children, though I struggle to find the words to describe it. Just imagine suffering such immense agony, only to be pulled out of it and granted a completely new life."

A World of Pure Light

"This is a world of brilliant, penetrating light. The Western Land of Dharma Nature is like this, and the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is even more so. One could say the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is adorned with gold and jade, filled everywhere with beauties beyond imagination. Of course, here, I no longer have any attachment to the beautiful things I see. My heart is incredibly calm, completely unlike how it was when I was in the world. I no longer have many desires; the various urges to want this, do that, or eat something have gradually faded away. I have truly become a pure and cool being! Ah, this is something that would make people in the human world envious beyond measure.

Of course, do not be discouraged. Having this human body is extremely precious. I want to tell my children and all my family members: since you possess this human body, you do not have to continue living the way you did before. Furthermore, those who study the Dharma must truly live the life of a Dharma practitioner. The life of a Dharma practitioner should be just like it is here in the West—cool, at ease, and free from afflictions. There is nothing worth clinging to, discriminating over, or becoming distressed about, because in truth, everything is an illusion. I have lived for so many years only to realise this now. Everything passes and then it is gone. I could not grasp this deeply before, but now I have a profound understanding of the truth of impermanence."

A New Spiritual Experience

"People in the world may find it hard to feel this, and my children are the same. But if you had experienced such suffering, or had gone through the agonizing illness and painful death that I did, only to find yourself in hell, you would understand. This painful experience has made me cherish everything before me even more. I know that the work of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas in guiding sentient beings is truly hard-won. That the Buddha is able to reside at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia is a great blessing for all of you; you must seize this opportunity to learn from the Buddha diligently. Do not walk the path your father took. My children are so wise; you should know how to conduct yourselves. Your father has faith in you. Now, I can only settle my heart and study here in the pure Buddha land of Namo Amituofo. This is an entirely new process, a new spiritual experience that I could not have felt when I had a physical body. My spirit is now very pure and very stable. Apart from studying the Dharma, I have no other thoughts. Apart from Namo Amituofo, there is only Namo Amituofo.

Alright, I am already living a wonderful life in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss; do not worry about me. I am going back to living my life as a resident of the West now. Thank you all. Namo Amituofo."
