The First Letter from the Beyond

Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre2 min read0 views

This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Chang Yung-fa, the founder of the Evergreen Group, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the . This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa-xi, on June 11, 2017.

Chang Yung-fa speaks:

"Guohua, Guoming, Guozheng, Guo-wei, and all the members of our family, large and small—do you still remember that I, Chang Yung-fa, am the patriarch of this family? The moment I departed, the family fell into such a state of disarray. Looking at the current situations, it seems there is no emotion left between you to speak of. Why must a family be driven to such a state of discord? Honestly, I do not even know which one of you I should address first. Every one of you is flesh of my flesh, a piece of my own heart. I know my eldest son often felt that I favoured my youngest, Guo-wei, but in truth, I loved you all with the same heart. Sometimes, when I showed a little more concern or entrusted one of you with greater responsibility, it was always done with a specific purpose in mind. It was never as you imagined it to be. Every son I, Chang Yung-fa, brought into this world is exceptional; how could there be any distinction of superiority or inferiority between you? It is only that, at times, seeing you fight to the death and engage in such bitter, underhanded struggles made me truly furious.

The Illusion of the Imperial Palace

Do you think the Evergreen Group is an imperial palace? You are acting as if you are fighting over a throne. I never wanted to see my sons turning knives against one another, causing each other such harm. I am well aware of your current situations. If there is still a place for me in your hearts, and if you still believe that I, Chang Yung-fa, am your father, then let us see who will be the first to come and find me. I am waiting here for you.

A Gateway to the Western Pure Land

There are many things I did not have the time to say, and if you are interested in knowing them, you must come to me. I am currently at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. If you intend to come, please remember to contact the centre first. I am waiting for you here. In the entire world, this is the only place that provides a direct passage to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This opportunity is open now, and it is up to you whether you wish to seize it. I am always here, waiting for you."

Chang Yung-fa
