A Final Request from Venerable Master Chin Kung
An Interview with the Spirit of Venerable Master Chin Kung
A Letter to Venerable Wudao and the 'Wu' Generation Monastics
This is a record of an interview with the spirit of the late Venerable Master Chin Kung, who now resides in the . This account was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe, on June 25, 2025.
Practitioner Su speaks:
"I respectfully invite my teacher, Venerable Master Chin Kung, to offer his compassionate teachings. Master, the day after tomorrow, I am sending Venerable Fa Sheng, Venerable Fa Hui, and Venerable Fa Ru to invite Venerable Wudao to the Mituo Buddhist Hall for the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Venerable Wudao represents my teacher, Venerable Master Chin Kung. I humbly ask you, Master, to provide guidance to Venerable Wudao and the other monastics of the 'Wu' generation. Please, invite Venerable Wudao and all the 'Wu' generation monastics to come to the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre to see the Buddha."
Venerable Master Chin Kung speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Peace to you all. I am Chin Kung. It has been nearly three years since I departed from the world. Early this morning, upon learning that I was to be interviewed, many beings were already waiting. So, Venerable, thank you for your hard work. The coughing you hear is not from you, but from the beings drawing near. I am now in the Western -Nature Land, where all things are seen with absolute clarity. In truth, there is no need to 'look'—as soon as a thought arises, I know it. This is the freedom of the spirit.
Since I was saved by the Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, I have remained in the Western Dharma-Nature Land at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia. This location is well-known to the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies. Everyone is familiar with this place.
A Message to My Successor
Wudao, I am your teacher, Chin Kung. I believe that upon receiving this letter, you will be astonished. Please, do not discard it before finishing it. These are my true words. Let your teacher speak his heart clearly so that I may find some peace. Consider this an act of filial piety, will you? I know that the Pure Land Learning College, the Pure Land societies, and the fourfold assembly of disciples of the Pure Land school both at home and abroad miss me dearly. I have seen this from the Western Pure Land, and I am grateful for your devotion. For at least sixty years, I shared the Dharma, leaving behind some Dharma Jewels for you all, which many still read online today. In truth, I have not died. You say I have entered Nirvana, but that is giving me too much credit. To be honest, if not for the salvation of Namo Amituofo, I would not be here; I would be suffering.
Wudao, you now represent the status of the elder master, and everyone acknowledges this. This is as it should be, and it is what you have earned; after all, you have been by my side for many years and have dedicated immense effort to the Pure Land school and the spreading of its teachings.
The Truth of Hsiang Kuang
Regarding the matter of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I must implore you, and I ask that you accept your teacher's request. This matter was my oversight. The Teacher of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, Namo Amituofo, is indeed residing at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre at this very moment. This is a fact that my spirit has personally experienced and witnessed; in the spiritual realms, this is an indisputable truth.
During every , Namo Amituofo leads the assembly, and immeasurable, boundless beings come to pay homage. Naturally, wherever Namo Amituofo resides is a Buddha-land. The Buddha, in his great , does not allow beings to suffer; he always helps them elevate the quality of their spirits. Many have been saved and entered the human realm, while others have entered the celestial realms—at the very least, they no longer fall into the evil paths. This is already a tremendous grace bestowed by the Buddha upon all beings. Among them, many who chant the Buddha's name have already been guided by the Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
The number of beings from the netherworld, the ghost realm, as well as animals, insects, and all beings of the physical world who have been saved during these ceremonies is truly countless! Practitioner Su’s great vow to save the demon crowds of the Dharma Realm—as well as those from the Earth, the Milky Way, the universe, the heavens beyond the heavens, and the demonic beings of other realms—is being carried out at every moment. The sky above the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre often reveals immeasurable demon crowds coming to seek refuge under the seat of Namo Amituofo. The sky above the Centre is ever-changing, filled with golden light that illuminates the earth; this is the scenery of the Western Pure Land!
A Confession and a Correction
Why must I, your teacher, say these things? Because they are facts! The spiritual realms are quite clear about this, but people have not seen it with their physical eyes, and even when they hear of it, they do not believe. Let this old man speak of these circumstances; these are all realities. Wudao, I must ask you for a favour. In the past, Practitioner Su mentioned the matter of Namo Amituofo to me many times. As you know, I eventually excluded him from the Pure Land system. This was my oversight! Yet, Practitioner Su has always respected me as a father, adhering to the principle that 'a teacher for one day is a father for life.' I did not inform the fourfold assembly of the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies about Namo Amituofo’s presence at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This was my mistake.
Now, I have been saved and brought to the Western Dharma-Nature Land. In truth, Practitioner Su has the ability to send me to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Freely travelling to and from the Western Pure Land is a skill he has long possessed. That he can enter the Land of Eternally Quiescent Light is something the Buddha himself has stated; it is not false, and you must respect him. However, the fourfold assembly of the human world and the Pure Land school had never heard of this, and it seemed inconceivable. Furthermore, my previous rejection of him made Practitioner Su’s work extremely difficult. In order to save beings in the human world, no matter what he said or did, he did not receive the recognition of the Pure Land school. Every time I saw him working so hard to maintain the grounds of the temple, striving so that Namo Amituofo could guide more Pure Land practitioners to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and working to ensure that the fourfold assembly here could continue to practise and purify themselves on this precious land in Australia, I felt deeply ashamed.
The Path Forward
I have often thought that if I had been able to clarify the situation back then and verify that Namo Amituofo was indeed at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, Practitioner Su could now be working together with the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies to guide more beings. Not only those in the human realm, but beings from the six realms, the Four Sacred Realms, and the Ten Directions of the Dharma Realm could all be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, receive the magnificent education of the Buddha, understand the coming and going of the spirit, and avoid falling into the evil paths. These matters of the spiritual realms are things that everyone has not heard of, and things that I, your teacher, did not know before. Now, I am telling you all that these are facts.
It is not too late to discover these things, even if only as a spirit without a body. Fortunately, I have the opportunity to speak these words to you now, but you must listen! I have spoken with such earnestness, urging everyone to come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to the Buddha and draw near to Namo Amituofo, yet not a single disciple of the Pure Land fourfold assembly has come. Chin Kung is truly heartbroken! However, I cannot blame you all. After all, I have passed away, and you cannot see your teacher’s physical body, so you might think these are false words. How could it be possible for your teacher to still have words transmitted while no longer in the world? Especially since I previously said, 'Practitioner Su, just chant the Buddha’s name honestly!' Once those four words were spoken, it was equivalent to excluding Practitioner Su from the Pure Land system. The world of spirits is extremely complex. If not for Namo Amituofo dictating every word and writing it down to tell everyone, and Practitioner Su witnessing and verifying it personally, no one would know. These spiritual matters are the reason why there are many who chant the Buddha’s name, but few who achieve rebirth in the West.
Restoring Justice
Wudao, my request to you is this: please invite Practitioner Su back into the Pure Land school! Lift the ban I previously imposed, excluding him from the Pure Land system. This was my error, as I did not inform everyone about Namo Amituofo’s presence at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. After I passed away, I entered the hells, and since arriving here, I have accepted many interviews. That was my opportunity to repent—it is my repentance, and it can also reduce my transgressions. Only then will I have the face to return to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss to see my compassionate father, Namo Amituofo.
Wudao, I know you are working very hard. You are over seventy years old, carrying the heavy burden of the Pure Land school, travelling here and there. I am aware of all this, and I affirm your efforts in following in my footsteps. But this matter must be done by you to restore justice to Practitioner Su. No one else can shoulder this. I entrust this heavy responsibility to you, and at this moment, I hope you will come to untie the knot that I tied. It is a knot of a thousand complications, and it must be untied now. Do not cut off the opportunity for everyone in the Pure Land school to be reborn in the West. Those who have realised their true nature can rely on the Forty-eight Great Vows of Namo Amituofo to believe, accept, and practise. Now, they possess the pure that can freely travel to and from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is what I have seen with my own eyes; it is not a false statement. Everyone should cherish and protect Practitioner Su as a precious treasure.
A Call to the Assembly
At this time, Chin Kung solemnly tells everyone—the Pure Land Learning College and all the monastics and followers of the Pure Land societies at home and abroad—that the knot I tied must be untied by me. I know you have all been following the words I passed down. But now that I am untying it, should you not also comply? This is true filial piety. That is to say, everyone must trust Practitioner Su; he is one who has realised his true nature. The Teacher of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, Namo Amituofo, is currently residing at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland. Chin Kung invites Venerable Wudao to bring the 'Wu' generation monastics and the fourfold assembly to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to Namo Amituofo. This is what a disciple of the Buddha should do; it is an encounter difficult to find in millions of years. The previous ban I placed on Practitioner Su entering the Pure Land system is lifted. You must listen and believe that these are your teacher’s words; only then are you good disciples and followers.
The great matter of rebirth in the West can be fulfilled here. I have witnessed too many spirits. Besides being guided by Namo Amituofo into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, there are many spirits who, through , are sent to the Western Dharma-Nature Land to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma. Afterwards, according to the wishes of the deceased, they are guided by Practitioner Su into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the truth; you must believe that every word Chin Kung says is real. Any further explanation seems redundant at this point. I have already explained quite a lot, and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has all the transcripts; one look and you will know the truth.
The Urgency of the Matter
Wudao, this matter is extremely important; it concerns the great matter of rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss for the fourfold assembly of the Pure Land system. If you continue to overlook my words, treating them as if you have not heard them, or if you pay no attention to or negate the words of any other monastic around you, be careful—you will follow in your teacher’s footsteps! I was the one who did not listen to Practitioner Su’s words, and after my last breath, I was taken to the hells. What a grave transgression this is! To cut off the great matter of rebirth in the West for the fourfold assembly of the Pure Land system—what a grave transgression! Can you bear it? Wudao, I hope everyone can listen well to what I am saying now; every word is the truth. The hells are filled with suffering; do not let a momentary, erroneous view lead you to hell to suffer. It is not worth it!
There is now a turning point in this matter. The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre has built the Mituo Buddhist Hall, which is truly magnificent! To the physical eyes of people, it is a lecture hall, and the building itself and its interior arrangements are very dignified. Most importantly, my Buddha, Namo Amituofo, is residing here. Since the Mituo Buddhist Hall was built, countless beings from the spiritual realms have come to pay homage to the Buddha, including countless celestial beings and sages of the Four Sacred Realms. Chin Kung also hopes that Wudao can bring the 'Wu' generation monastics, the monastics, lay practitioners, and volunteers of the Pure Land Learning College and Pure Land societies, and even monastics and followers from home and abroad, to come quickly to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to the Buddha, bow to the Buddha, and seek the Dharma. There is hope for everyone to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
At this time, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre invites Wudao to come to the Mituo Buddhist Hall to provide guidance and participate in the ribbon-cutting ceremony. Wudao, this is what should be done; you should come. Do not refuse. Come once, and you will know that this is truly a Buddha-land. Bring everyone with you! Your teacher is always watching over you and waiting for you in the Western Dharma-Nature Land at the temple. You must pay respect to Practitioner Su; he has worked very hard. The Pure Land Learning College, the Pure Land societies, and the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre should work together in unity to build a Pure Land of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in the human world, helping beings of the human realm and the six realms, the Four Sacred Realms, and even all beings of the Ten Directions of the Dharma Realm to chant the Buddha’s name and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. You must restore Practitioner Su’s reputation; it is not easy to be one who has realised one's true nature and attained Buddhahood with a pure Dharma Body.
The Title of 'Buddha Su'
Why is Practitioner Su also called 'Buddha Su' in many articles, interviews, and Buddha’s words? Because Namo Amituofo calls Practitioner Su 'Buddha Su.' We refer to Teacher Xia Lianju as 'Teacher,' and we should also respectfully call Teacher Xia Lianju by that title. Teacher Xia Lianju also respectfully refers to Practitioner Su as 'Buddha Su.' By practising the Pure Land teachings in a human body, achieving the realisation of one's true nature, attaining Buddhahood, and saving countless suffering beings, he has moved Namo Amituofo to descend to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Although such a practitioner is not a monk, his practice and achievements surpass those of a monk! This confirms what your teacher said before: in the age of the Dharma’s decline, those who achieve success in Pure Land practice will be lay practitioners first, and among lay practitioners, female lay practitioners will lead.
In fact, Practitioner Su’s past lives were those of a lay practitioner whom everyone knows and respects. Many people do not know about the affairs of the spiritual realms, but they have been revealed here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This is by no means superstition, demonic beings, or the words of a spirit medium. Everyone must stop these words; do not continue to say them, and do not create verbal . This is slander against one who has achieved success in practice. It does not harm Practitioner Su in the slightest, but for those who speak these words, it creates the karma of hell. Do not let a moment of loose talk cause your own spirit to suffer and endure pain.
My physical body left behind sarira flowers, which is a great encouragement to the Pure Land school and can be considered an affirmation of Chin Kung’s sixty years of lecturing on the sutras. But this does not mean that your teacher did not make mistakes in his life! The greatest mistake was excluding Namo Amituofo from the Pure Land system. I have always wanted to rectify this, but no one listened to the words of the departed, and no one believed them. It is truly tragic! Before lifting the ban on Practitioner Su, my spirit still carried this charge; I truly had no face to return to the West to see my compassionate father! At this time, my compassionate father, Namo Amituofo, is right here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. If those with open eyes enter the temple, they can often see Namo Amituofo appearing in the sky and in the Buddha hall.
Wudao, your teacher emphasises this once more, and it is also my request: lift the ban previously imposed on Practitioner Su by the Pure Land school. Invite Practitioner Su back to the Pure Land Learning College and the Pure Land societies. Let Wudao lead the 'Wu' generation monastics, the monastics, lay practitioners, and volunteers of the Pure Land Learning College and Pure Land societies, and the monastics and followers from home and abroad, to come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to pay homage to the Buddha, seek the Dharma, and seek rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is what a disciple of the Buddha should do.
The above are the personal words of Chin Kung.
Namo Amituofo."
