A Gentle Reminder on the Path of Practice
Words of Namo Amituofo
Day 19 of the Taiwan, Hong Kong, and World Disaster Relief Dharma Assembly

The Urgency of True Practice
On this nineteenth day of the Taiwan, Hong Kong, and World Disaster Relief Assembly, we gather to reflect upon the essential nature of our spiritual journey. Namo Amituofo offers this gentle reminder to all practitioners: the time to act is now. We must learn to let go of the illusory affairs of this world, for these distractions only serve to bind us further to the cycle of rebirth. To begin your practice in earnest and without delay—this is what it truly means to reach a state of genuine .
The Distinction Between Service and Awakening
Within the process of our practice, we must strive for both clarity and deep insight. Many people dedicate their lives to service, which is a noble endeavour. If one spends an entire lifetime performing service, the merits accumulated are certainly sufficient to ensure a better existence in the next life. However, we must ask ourselves: what happens in the life that follows that one? Where will we truly be?
The Illusion of the External World
Human life is often marked by brevity and incompleteness. Because we possess only a limited, surface-level understanding, there will always be dark corners within our that remain unlit. The life we perceive on the surface is but a space of illusory manifestations. It is beneath this surface that the true spirit finds its place of self-realisation. We must look past the external appearances that cloud our vision.
Seeing the Buddha Within
The ultimate goal of our practice is to see our true self. Yet, if we cannot let go of the external images and attachments that define our daily lives, how can we hope to see the Buddha? You must realise that the Buddha is standing right before your eyes. Furthermore, you must understand that your own true self is, in itself, the Buddha. When you chant Buddha's name, you are not merely calling out to an external deity; you are, in essence, chanting to your own true self. Namo Amituofo.
