A Grandmother's Journey to the Western Pure Land
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Wang Chahua
This is a record of an interview with Wang Chahua, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the spirit realm to the Western Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 30, 2026.
Lay Practitioner Wang Chahua speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Wang Chahua, and I am now a member of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is truly inconceivable! The turn of events has been so rapid. I had passed away in the human world many years ago, and for a long time, I existed as a ghost, a spirit. To be honest, those days were not entirely unpleasant because, during my life, I was a decent person who enjoyed being by the side of others. After I passed, I felt as though I was always accompanying my loved ones, lingering in different spaces. I wanted to offer strength and encouragement to those closest to me, even though you could not see me or feel my presence.
A Granddaughter's Devotion
I never imagined that anyone in the human world would still remember an old woman like me, especially my dear granddaughter, Ling Qixia. When you were small, Grandma loved you dearly. I never expected that today, you would perform Chao Du for me. I am truly, deeply moved.
First and foremost, I wish to express my ten-thousand-fold gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I am so grateful to you for your immense in leading me to this beautiful world. It is only because Practitioner Su possesses such profound skills that this could be accomplished. When you speak of such things, it is hard for people to believe, yet it has truly happened. I, Wang Chahua, cherish this opportunity immensely, and I am filled with gratitude.
The Importance of Practising the
My granddaughter, Ling Qixia, you are no longer young, and to have encountered Namo Amituofo at this stage in your life—you are truly a person of tremendous ! As for what I would like to say to my family still living in the world: you must practise the Buddha’s teachings. If a person does not study the Dharma, they are truly living in a state of confusion and ignorance. Coming to the human world for a lifetime is a wasted journey if you do not practise. If you only come here to indulge in worldly pleasures, you will exhaust your blessings, and after you leave this world, you will still have to endure suffering.
A Call to Action for the Living
You have this opportunity right now, so I hope you will all grasp it firmly. I no longer have a physical body, and I cannot do anything in your world, but you still do. While you have the chance and possess healthy bodies, you should diligently propagate the Buddha’s teachings. Doing work for the Buddha is, in essence, doing work for all beings, and it is also doing work for yourselves.
I do not think of anything else now, nor do I look back. The human world is so complex and chaotic; I have no interest in it at all. Grandma now only has interest in the six-character name, 'Namo Amituofo.' Ever since I arrived in the Western Land of Dharma Nature and came to know Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, I have been very diligent in keeping the name of Namo Amituofo on my lips at all times.
The Path to Buddhahood
Not long ago, when someone asked me if I wished to be reborn in the Western Pure Land, I agreed immediately. I knew that only by being reborn in the Western Land could I truly stay by the side of the Buddha. After I gave my consent, I began to live a truly complete and perfect life. Of course, I have not yet become a Buddha; I am still very far from that! However, having arrived here, I have great confidence that one day I will complete my studies and truly become a Buddha to save all beings. Just as Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su saved me, I also want to save others. This is my heart's vow.
Namo Amituofo."
