This is a record of an interview with the spirit of a child lost to miscarriage on October 12, 1999, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. The spirit now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on June 13, 2025.

The spirit of the child speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am no longer in pain. My heart has finally settled, and I feel as though everything about my existence has changed in the most profound way.

I want to express my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su for bringing me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I love it here so much. When I compare this place to the world I left behind, there is simply no contest—this is infinitely better, beyond anything I could have imagined!

A Life Cut Short

In that life, I was never destined to obtain a human body. That is why I never had the chance to grow safely and fully within my mother's womb. It was a path that was closed to me from the very beginning.

To be honest, I was once filled with such anger and resentment. I even harboured deep hatred toward my mother. In those final moments before I lost my life, I had a terrible premonition of what was coming. My heart was overflowing with fear. I tried so desperately to hold on, to grasp at anything that would keep me there, but I could hold onto nothing. My life ended as quickly as it had begun.

Lingering in the Shadows

I never stopped to think about what my life might have been like had I survived. I truly never considered it, because I could not imagine it, nor could I conceive of such a future. However, I never truly left my mother. I remained in that same space, lingering, as if I were still tethered to her side.

I felt so incredibly insecure. I was prone to fear at the slightest provocation. Only by staying close to my mother did I feel even a shred of comfort. But now, I no longer need that. I do not need anyone else to feel whole. Even if I am alone, I am no longer afraid, because I have Namo Amituofo.

The Peace of Chanting

I am now chanting Namo Amituofo with all my heart. Ever since Practitioner Su saved me, I have been chanting continuously, without a single pause. Chanting allows my heart to become so level, so still, and so profoundly stable. It is for this reason that I have grown to love the practice of chanting so dearly.

I want to thank my mother for helping me through the Chao Du ceremony. It is only because of her that I am able to speak to you now. My entire being feels so comfortable, so filled with . I no longer hold any hatred toward my mother, nor do I feel any lingering attachment to the world of suffering. My only desire now is to follow Namo Amituofo and continue my practice here. Perhaps, if I cultivate well enough, I will be able to attain a high level of achievement, and one day, my mother and I will be reunited here in this beautiful land."

With deepest reverence, Miaoyin.

Namo Amituofo.
