A Message from the Beyond: A Letter to My Family
An Interview with Chang Yung-fa, Founder of the Evergreen Group
Recorded on January 31, 2018
This is a record of an interview with Chang Yung-fa, the late founder of the Evergreen Group, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account captures his reflections from beyond the physical realm, as transmitted to the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on January 31, 2018.
Chang Yung-fa speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Chang Yung-fa. In the past, I wrote several letters—some intended for my son, others for my wife—but after sending them out, there was never any response. So, this time, I am waiting to see who might receive this, who might be able to see it, and who, after reading it, will bring this news to those back home so they can finally know the truth. If that happens, then this letter will not have been written in vain.
A Legacy of Gratitude
Looking back at the vast business empire I built during my life, the most comforting thing to me after my passing is that Practitioner Su, the Venerables, and the lay practitioners at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia were able to hold a five-day this past January. This is my greatest honour. My only regret is that I was unable to sponsor the entire event. I feel both deep gratitude and a sense of apology toward Practitioner Su for this.
If it were not for the help of Practitioner Su, I, Ah-Fa, would not have been invited to the Western Land of Nature at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre immediately after my death. Later, through her chanting of Namo Amituofo, she guided me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am writing this letter from the Western Pure Land right now, transmitting my thoughts to the Venerables at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre so that you may receive my message. This may seem hard to believe, but it is the absolute truth!
The Debt of Kindness
My mother, who followed the Yiguandao tradition, was originally in the eighteenth heaven of the celestial realm. She, too, received the of Practitioner Su, who guided her to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Who among the Evergreen Group or my relatives can help me repay this immense debt of kindness? My previous attempts to reach my family left me deeply disappointed. I hope that through this appeal, this letter will finally reach them.
Giving Back to Society
The Chang Yung-fa International Convention Centre was originally intended for both internal and external company meetings, as well as for use by charitable organisations and various events. To be a person of substance, one must understand that we take from society and must, in turn, give back to society. Only then can a business be sustained indefinitely. Based on this philosophy, I always required the company to allocate funds annually for non-profit social welfare purposes. I hope this practice continues today. One must never forget their roots. Regardless of economic development or the company's profits and losses, this commitment must be upheld.
A Call to Support the Dharma
This time, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre held its first Thrice Yearning Ceremony in Taiwan, choosing the eleventh floor of the Chang Yung-fa International Convention Centre. Ms. Liang and her team handled the arrangements very smoothly, and the ceremony concluded perfectly. I was very satisfied. It is a pity that I, Chang Yung-fa, could not help in any way. If one were to calculate the value of this grace, it would not be excessive for my family, the foundation, or the group to fully sponsor the four annual Dharma talks and Thrice Yearning Ceremonies held in Taiwan, including all expenses such as flowers, incense, and vegetarian offerings.
Furthermore, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is planning to build a temple. I had hoped that our people would fully support this endeavour. This is the temple of Namo Amituofo. Building this temple can save many people from suffering and lead them to the Western Pure Land; this is an opportunity difficult to encounter in millions of years. This place can also help people heal their illnesses. If my family members need to regulate their health or seek medical healing, coming here is exactly the right thing to do.
I am now in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss of Namo Amituofo. You can find me through the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Whoever wishes to find me, I am always available to come down and converse with them."
