A Return to the Pure Land: The Journey of Lu Junhong
An Interview with the Spirit of Lay Practitioner Lu Junhong
Recorded by Chief Writer Shi Fajing on August 1, 2025
This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Lu Junhong, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his spiritual journey and his eventual deliverance. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on August 1, 2025.
Lay Practitioner Lu Junhong speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Oh, the of the Buddha! The compassion of Practitioner Su is truly boundless!
If it were not for the fact that Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su did not hold my past transgressions against me, how could I, with my limited merits, ever have arrived at the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss? It is a miracle of grace that I am here.
The Purity of Intent and the Deviation of the Path
When I first established my door, my intentions were pure. I truly wished to save beings, and there was nothing else in my heart. However, human nature is prone to deviation. In the process of my work, I inevitably veered off course. Now that I have seen the truth of the Buddha’s light, I feel a profound sense of repentance in my heart for those moments where my ego took the lead.
Beings have different Causal Conditions, and thus they encounter different Dharma doors. Now that I have attained rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, I finally realise that the dignity and splendour of this place are beyond anything in the human world. Only after seeing the Buddha and hearing the Dharma here did I truly understand that the only path to the fruit of Buddhahood is the single-minded practice of chanting Namo Amituofo and seeking rebirth in the Pure Land.
The Ultimate Path of Liberation
All Dharma methods return to one: chanting Namo Amituofo and seeking rebirth in the Pure Land. This is the only true path of liberation. Looking back through my many lifetimes, I see that I was once a disciple of the Buddha. I was a great Bhikshu, preaching the Dharma before the Buddha. The very method I taught then was the practice of chanting Namo Amituofo—single-mindedly chanting to seek rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Yet, in this recent life, I had long forgotten that original vow.
I am so fortunate that in this lifetime, I still had the Causal Conditions to return to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. When I finally stood before my compassionate father, Namo Amituofo, I was overcome with immense sorrow and the deepest repentance. My heart wept for the time I had lost.
A Final Plea to Disciples
I sincerely hope that my former disciples will not let their past practices become a hindrance. I urge you all to let go of your attachments, to single-mindedly chant Namo Amituofo, to benefit yourselves and others, and to join me in the Pure Land.
I am filled with gratitude for the compassionate lay practitioner Li Junhui. She was willing to set her heart on saving my spirit. If not for her compassionate actions, I would still be wandering, without the opportunity to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. My gratitude is endless, truly endless.
Namo Amituofo.
Lu Junhong bows in reverence."
