This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Venerable Sheng Yen, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the . This account reflects upon his message to his followers, recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxi, on June 13, 2017.

Venerable Sheng Yen speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Sheng Yen. I have a question for all of you: 'Are you truly learning the Buddha’s teachings, or are you practising magic?'"

A Question of Truth

"Whether it is the Chung Tai World or Drum Mountain, whether you are a leader currently in office or one who has already passed on like me—this is not what the Buddha’s teachings are about! If the Buddha’s teachings you are practising were the true Dharma, you would not be suffering from illness."

"Today, I leave you with one sentence that is worth deep reflection: Are you learning the Buddha’s teachings, or are you learning magic? If you claim that the Buddha truly exists, then why have you not transcended sickness and death? Instead, you have become terminally ill, wasting the precious Buddha’s teachings."

Facing the Reality of Life and Death

"Everyone, facing the truth is not a bad thing. I am still waiting for all of you. Come find me; I am here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre."

"Namo Amituofo."
