A Tragedy in the Milky Way
An Interview with Venerable Changgao
Recorded on April 13, 2019
This is a record of an interview with Venerable Changgao, who witnessed a tragic event in the Milky Way and sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now reflects upon this experience, which occurred on April 13, 2019. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Venerable HaiZe.
Venerable Changgao speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Changgao. On that day, while I was accompanying Practitioner Su in the Milky Way to perform Chao Du, I heard a voice echoing through the vastness of space. It was a dialogue, clear and urgent: 'We are proceeding according to the plan, following the designated flight path.' This was the pilot of a spacecraft reporting back to their planetary headquarters.
Yet, in the very next heartbeat, the tone shifted to one of alarm. A patrol officer reported to the pilot: 'We have detected unidentified objects clinging to the exterior of our flight wings. There are so many of them! We can only detect the location of their energy signatures; we cannot see the objects themselves. Please, provide instructions on how to proceed!'"
The Suddenness of Impermanence
"The pilot’s face changed instantly. Before he could even issue the command to abandon ship, I witnessed the spacecraft disintegrate and explode in the void. After a violent bloom of fire and light, the surrounding area returned to a chilling silence. The dark horizon was suddenly filled with smoke and the debris of the shattered vessel. Every life within that ship had been extinguished in an instant, perishing alongside their craft. Yet, those unidentified objects remained in space, as if nothing had happened at all.
This is what I saw in that space today. It is a scene that repeats itself endlessly in that dimension. Perhaps it is because these beings and I share a karmic affinity that I was permitted to witness this tragedy."
The Cruelty of Interstellar Conflict
"As I looked closer at the situations leading up to the disaster, I realised that this spacecraft had inadvertently entered the aerial territory of these unknown entities. The energy of these entities was far superior to that of the spacecraft. Without a hint of mercy, they used their dominant energy to latch onto the ship, forcing it to explode and disintegrate in mid-air to prevent it from entering or occupying their planet.
The entire process was terrifyingly swift. There was not even a moment for a warning or a chance for the ship to retreat from their airspace. They were simply annihilated. This is the nature of impermanence in the stars. It turns out that impermanence is everywhere, even in the depths of the Milky Way.
Because of this, the spirits of those who perished in the explosion remained trapped in that space, unable to find rest. They were caught in a state of shock, having lost their lives in an instant without any warning. They did not even know they were dead; they were trapped in a loop, repeating the process of reporting the incident and then dying in the explosion over and over again."
The Restoration of Broken Spirits
"As I looked through the debris scattered across the void, I could see the spirits of the aliens. They had pointed heads, no hair, and tall, slender frames. White liquid was flowing from the sides of their bodies—I intuitively understood that their arms had been severed, and that white liquid was their blood. Many of the spirits were horribly mangled; some had only half a body, while others had their heads shorn off.
Then, Practitioner Su arrived. He brought with him a brilliant golden light that illuminated them. These spirits, who had previously been trapped with their eyes closed in a state of deathly, expressionless silence, suddenly opened their eyes. They had large, round eyes, tiny mouths, and noses that were merely two small holes. As the golden light shone upon them, their bodies miraculously began to restore themselves to their original state. Only then could I see their true appearance clearly: their limbs were thin and long, much like tree branches.
They began to move their bodies. The surrounding space was suddenly filled with the sound of the Buddha-name. I used my mental note to tell them to chant Namo Amituofo, and I demonstrated the mouth shape and the sound of the chanting. They understood my intention very quickly. They sensed that we were kind and had no evil intent. Soon, I saw their tiny mouths following the rhythm of the Buddha-name, chanting silently. They communicated through mental notes, without the need for spoken sound."
Deliverance to the Western Land
"I watched the pilot; his eyes were blinking rapidly. His gaze conveyed a message: 'Everyone, listen to the command and follow suit.' His eyes were so expressive—he was speaking with his eyes! Immediately, I saw every one of them move their mouths to form the shape of the Buddha-name, following the chanting of Practitioner Su and those of us nearby.
Practitioner Su then waved his large robe. With that gesture, he gathered the wreckage of the spacecraft and the spirits of these aliens into his sleeves, which were as vast as the universe itself. I knew then that they were being sent to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. Practitioner Su is truly magnificent! I could not help but sigh in heartfelt admiration.
In the vast expanse of the Milky Way, I watched as Practitioner Su continued to work tirelessly within the Buddha-light, waving his sleeves to save countless suffering spirits."
