A Voice from the Dawn of Humanity
An Interview with Huake, a Spirit of the Upper Cave Man
This is a record of an interview with Huake, a leader of the Upper Cave Man tribe who lived approximately 13,000 years ago. He sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the . Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa, on March 9, 2026.
Huake speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Huake. 'Upper Cave Man'—I never imagined that modern people would call us by that name. It seems this is how you identify our clan based on the location where our remains were found. Our tribe was vast, and our history spans a very long time.
A Life in the Ancient Forests
I lived in a space deep within the mountains, surrounded by many ancestral spirits. I did not feel that anything was different, nor did I have a clear sense of how much time had passed. If you ask how long ago I lived, there is indeed a number: thirteen thousand years. However, that is merely the era in which I existed. If we speak of the even more distant past—the eras of my ancestors and the generations before them—that would be an even more ancient time.
According to the memories passed down by the ancestral spirits, our clan travelled across mountains and rivers from a distant land, moving gradually over many generations until we reached this place. Because the climate and environment here were more suitable for human habitation than the lands of our ancestors, we decided to settle down. The magnetic field in this region was relatively stable, with abundant water sources and vegetation. Gathering and hunting became much easier, which greatly increased our chances of survival.
The Language of the Soul
We were deeply grateful to our ancestors for traversing such great distances to find a place so suitable for living. We settled here for a long time, generation after generation. By the time it reached my generation, we had become a small, organized tribal society. Unlike our nomadic past, we could now live in a fixed location and communicate using simple sounds.
Although these sounds might seem similar, we could clearly understand the content of our communication through subtle variations in our calls. When we wanted to call someone, each person had their own specific, nuanced vocal change. When people wanted to call me, they would make a sound like 'Huake.' The specific details of the throat sound told me instantly that they were calling for me. Thus, my name became 'Huake.'
A Leader in a Pure World
I am one of the ancestral spirits of the Upper Cave Man. Now, we have all been invited into a bright world. The living environment here is even more serene and peaceful than our original mountain forest space, and the magnetic field is calmer and more luminous. My people are very happy; everyone is grateful for the wisdom of the ancestors in finding such a suitable place to live. At that time, our tribe was divided into several smaller groups, and I was the leader of one of them.
The place where I lived, in modern terms, was in the Shandong region. At that time, there were no borders on the land, and there was no concept of territorial division between tribes; everyone coexisted in harmony. If there was a need, we would help one another. After all, survival was difficult enough; there was no reason to worry about things beyond survival.
The Wisdom of the Ancestral Spirits
Since ancient times, our ancestors and spirits followed a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, seeking suitable dwellings without ever fixing a place as a permanent territory. The advantage of this was that we could migrate quickly when necessary, as we were always prepared to move. If we encountered other tribes during our travels, we would assist each other, sometimes even merging into a larger tribe. In such a harsh environment, supporting one another provided a sense of peace.
The resources in the Chinese region were incredibly abundant. For our population size, the land provided far more than we needed, so we could develop and survive here for a long time without worrying about scarcity. However, in the spiritual memories passed down by our ancestors, we did read that there had been drastic climate changes in this region, which caused significant loss of life.
Maintaining Spiritual Sensitivity
We followed the guidance of the ancestral spirits, learning more and more about how to face and cope with such weather changes or natural disasters. Through the long history of our ancestors, our understanding of this land grew deeper. We knew that the richness of this land came from the long, flowing rivers and streams. We did not understand the source of these waters, but they were the key to nurturing life on this land. When we drank this water, we could feel the natural energy it brought—it was very pure. Any food or items could be purified through the power of the stream, ensuring that when we consumed them, they would not overly interfere with the sensitivity of our spirits.
The land was rich in resources and wild animals. Although we did hunt, we discovered that if we relied on wild animals as our primary food source, our spirits would become relatively polluted. These polluted spirits would cause a person's temperament to change. Therefore, most of the time, we relied on gathered grains and fruits as our diet, which was the guidance given to us by the ancestral spirits.
The Law of Nature
The society of that time was very simple. Everyone engaged in the most necessary activities to survive, ensuring the maintenance of their energy and the sensitivity of their spirits. We had to maintain this spiritual sensitivity because once we lost it—once we lost our connection to nature—we would lose the ability to judge and act when facing environmental changes or threats. This was something the ancestral spirits repeatedly admonished us to strictly observe.
Regarding the propagation of the next generation, we could feel that various thoughts between men and women would cause spiritual pollution. Therefore, apart from the necessity of continuing the lineage, we restrained such behaviors. After all, unnecessary energy consumption did not help the tribe's survival. If we lowered our chances of survival through unnecessary actions, it would not only harm ourselves but also the entire tribe.
Fire and Purification
A person's negative magnetic field affects the environment and the tribe. This was something everyone understood clearly. Once a negative magnetic field was generated, it had to be adjusted and corrected as quickly as possible, or the survival of the tribe would be threatened. For the method of adjustment, we would ask the ancestral spirits for guidance.
The ancestral spirits, with their noble spirituality, could always provide us with the correct direction for adjustment. Over time, a set of rules for handling these matters naturally formed. Although we had no written language, these rules were recognized and accepted by everyone at the level of spiritual essence. If any tribe member violated these rules, we would admonish them using spiritual methods and simple sounds, hoping they would correct themselves.
Seeking Shelter
Of course, in a large tribe, it was inevitable that strange magnetic fields would exist. But the ancestral spirits taught us to adapt to and tolerate various magnetic fields. No matter what kind of negative magnetic field we encountered, we only needed to hold firmly to our own positive magnetic field and beliefs; the rest would be handled by the mechanisms of nature. Negative magnetic fields are not conducive to one's survival and naturally would not last long in the world. The environment at that time was so simple that we did not need to overthink these things.
Our gathering and hunting techniques were mostly limited to using stones and animal bones as simple tools. In the early days of our ancestors, there was no fire; everyone used pure river water to purify food and to ensure the natural functioning of the body. By my era, the ancestral spirits had learned how to use fire. The energy of fire itself is very pure; food and ingredients cooked over flames were purified significantly, so there was less to worry about in terms of consumption.
The Cycle of Life
The energy of fire is pure and can also drive away unnecessary, impure magnetic fields and wild animals carrying negative energy. Whenever we entered a new area, we would also use river water and fire to purify the stagnant, harmful energy of that place. These stagnant magnetic fields were the result of the long-term survival and changes of all things in that area. Although very primitive, for humans, these places contained very complex magnetic fields and spirits. We had to organize an environment suitable for humans and purify it with river water and fire before we could settle down securely.
Because our ability to adapt to climate change was not perfect, we could not endure long periods of exposure to the sun and rain in the natural environment. We mostly chose dense tree shade or forests as our habitat. If we could find caves or cliff bottoms that could shield us from heavy rain and the scorching sun, it provided a stable living environment, allowing the tribe to live in the caves with more peace of mind. Facing sometimes drastically changing weather, living in caves was also a way of survival guided by the ancestral spirits to avoid extreme cold. However, the capacity of caves was limited.
The Shift in Human
Therefore, we had to send out the strongest young tribe members, rich in gathering and hunting experience and skills, to explore more caves and find places suitable for the tribe to live. In terms of clothing, if the weather was truly severe, we would use simple clothes sewn with bone needles for warmth. This technology came from a certain tribe and gradually spread, so everyone learned to use it.
Life on this land was not without worries. Massive weather changes—such as extreme cold, floods, heavy rain, and droughts—took the lives of many tribe members. During one period of extreme cold, I lost my ability to move due to an injury in the wild. Without shelter or the warmth of fire, I lost my life.
The Rise of Complexity and Conflict
Although I lost my life, my spirit was very clear. I knew this was a phenomenon that every tribe member would encounter in nature. My spirit followed the other ancestral spirits into the ancestral spirit space. I led the tribe to find my body, mainly to let them know I had passed away, hoping they would quickly elect the next leader to continue leading everyone. I would continue to protect them as an ancestral spirit. Everyone watched me lose my life; some were saddened, but those with a little sensitivity knew that my spirit was still alive in the ancestral spirit space.
Those with sensitivity could communicate with me at any time; this part was not an obstacle for anyone. As a spirit, I could quickly observe changes in the magnetic fields and weather patterns in the space and provide timely assistance. I also continued to follow the next leader in my spirit form, teaching him many things a leader should know. Whenever the tribe had any difficulties or doubts, as long as they communicated with me with a spiritual heart, I could provide answers immediately.
The Inevitable Decline
Some things, such as natural disasters, I knew were inevitable. The passing of life is sometimes a necessary process, and one cannot use the wisdom of ancestral spirits to reverse the results; this is one of the laws of nature. If one violates these laws to satisfy selfish desires, the magnetic field within one's body will soon be polluted, which is even more detrimental to survival and will not bring any benefits.
I continued to protect my tribe as an ancestral spirit, and they continued to multiply, reaching thirteen thousand years to the present. The people in the China region today, whether Han or ethnic minorities, are mostly our descendants. After the large and small tribes separated and settled in different places, they produced different descendants, and even the border regions and countries outside of China all originated from our tribe.
Seclusion in Pure Spaces
Although these are indeed our descendants, from a certain period, the natural principles of the universe were gradually no longer followed by the tribe. As the ancestral spirits had pointed out before, a large tribe would always have members with negative magnetic fields, and we tolerated them all. However, these negative magnetic fields were inherited along with the propagation of the tribe. What is terrifying is that negative magnetic fields hinder the teachings of the ancestral spirits. When they could no longer receive the teachings of the ancestral spirits, it became easier to violate natural principles, thereby attracting more negative magnetic fields.
Thousands of years later, this vicious cycle became more severe. Eight thousand years ago, the survival of the tribe began to show subtle changes because survival technology had advanced to the stage of agriculture. Agriculture itself is not right or wrong; the real problem is that when the tribe possessed the concept of savings—the more they saved, the more they wanted to make life secure—they began to attract more negative magnetic fields.
The Golden Light of Namo Amituofo
Comparisons regarding savings and food between each other also attracted many negative magnetic fields. Those who had the ability to farm and mastered food technology felt superior, which also attracted negative magnetic fields. Those who could not obtain sufficient food, if they took or stole food that did not belong to them, also attracted negative magnetic fields. It can be said that when people's lives began to become more complex, exceeding the material life of gathering and hunting, people's thoughts began to change. To protect their own savings and food, people began to use more thinking and strategies to guard their own material possessions.
In an environment with relative food surplus, people's lives were no longer exhausted by gathering and hunting, and they began to have extra time and energy. At this time, people did not know how to use this time, so they developed various cultures. These cultures were used to kill time and also created differences and discriminations among the tribe members. In the primitive survival environment, there were not many differences among the tribe members; everyone was equal and helped each other to maintain survival. However, after there were no worries about survival, the tribe members began to distinguish each other through culture and resources, and even used their extra time for unnecessary relationships between men and women. Whenever these negative magnetic fields and environmental pollution appeared, the ancestral spirits would try their best to persuade the tribe members.
A New Purpose
However, we discovered that the spirits within these negative magnetic fields could actually communicate with the tribe members, thereby influencing their thoughts. This shocked us; this was something that rarely happened before, but later it became a common situation. People always listened to the words of the spirits in these negative magnetic fields and could not hear the persuasion of the ancestral spirits, which worried us greatly.
Although the survival of the tribe was no longer a big problem, the negative behaviors caused by these negative magnetic fields, and living with wrong concepts and ideas, actually had a very negative impact on the magnetic field and the people of the entire region. We could see that the negative magnetic field of the entire region continued to accumulate, and the consciousness of discrimination, self-protection, and selfishness became more and more severe. In the end, primitive tribes gradually formed small countries, and from personal selfishness, it slowly evolved into a consciousness of discrimination based on the country. At this time, we knew that things had reached an irreversible point.
A Vow to Help
Soon, as the ancestral spirits expected, the most primitive wars broke out. Although the scale of the initial wars was not large and the tools used were relatively simple, and the casualties were limited, the real harm did not come from surface injuries, but from the rapid increase of negative magnetic fields. The pollution and stains of spirituality in people's hearts quickly occupied their entire bodies; the originally clean and pure land was soon covered with pitch-black magnetic fields; the originally pure and kind things—forests, land, mountains, rivers, birds, and beasts—also began to be stained with negative magnetic fields. The ancestral spirits watched all these changes in the space, but were helpless.
Thus, everyone slowly stopped asking about the development of the people and chose to live the most pure and kind life in their own ancestral spirit space. After all, excessive interference with these negative magnetic fields does not conform to natural principles. Once we interfere, our pure magnetic field space as ancestral spirits will also be affected. Therefore, we chose to lock ourselves in a pure space. These spaces are mostly located in the depths of mountain forests, including remote areas where no one lives, deep mountain caves, and quiet ponds and lakes. In addition, there are mountain forests with the densest vegetation; these places are difficult for people to reach, and we spent thousands of years in these spaces.
Until one day, a large piece of golden light sprinkled into the space where we were hiding. We felt that the golden light had a very gentle and positive magnetic field, and we were very surprised; this was not expected. The negative magnetic field interference received by the Chinese people themselves had been very severe thousands of years ago; why was there such a powerful golden light that could break through our space at this time? We did not understand.
Later, our entire ancestral spirit space was transferred to an extremely bright world. Only then did we know that this was the Western -Nature Land of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. In such a bright world, everyone sat on lotus flowers. The magnetic field here is very pure and kind; any space, every air particle, the lotus flowers under our feet, every light particle seen by the eyes, and even all the beings in this world, all possess a very pure, kind, and extremely good magnetic field. This is something we never thought of, and we did not know what had happened. In this extremely good magnetic field space, we asked questions through mental notes and received the reply: This is the world where Namo Amituofo resides, and the people here are all learning the universal principles with Namo Amituofo. This surprised me very much; there is actually such a high-level spiritual space promoting universal natural principles.
I also realized that the golden light at that time was exactly the extremely good and pure light of Namo Amituofo, which can break through various spaces and bring changes to the magnetic field of the space. Our original ancestral spirit space could be considered very pure, but compared to the extremely good, pure, and kind magnetic field and space of Namo Amituofo, it still seemed a bit mixed. This is something I had never discovered before. I originally thought that the space where the ancestral spirits were located was very pure and kind, but after seeing the magnetic field space of Namo Amituofo, I realized that there was still a considerable distance between the two. We later understood through mental communication that such a breakthrough in space was led by Practitioner Su, who brought the into various regions of China to break through various spaces and rescue the spirits inside.
I did not originally think that we ancestral spirits were suffering in the space, but after being rescued by the light of Namo Amituofo, I understood that we were indeed stuck in the original space, attached to the original spiritual life, and attached to this lifestyle. True purity and kindness do not need a trace of pollution, nor do they need a trace of attachment. I could not help but sigh; the spiritual space we were in was considered a very deep and hidden place in the China region, not a place that ordinary mortals could easily reach.
On the Dharma-Nature Land, I saw Practitioner Su leading Namo Amituofo, with great , delivering the spirits of China. These very mysterious and hidden spiritual spaces, as well as the subtle air, sand, and soil that cannot be seen from the outside, and even the space of water droplets, were all illuminated, entered, and opened by the light of Namo Amituofo, and the spirits inside were invited into the Dharma-Nature Land. This is truly inconceivable. At this time, I understood why our ancestral spirit space was opened by the Buddha-light, and why I am now in the Western Dharma-Nature Land. In the Dharma-Nature Land, I quietly watched all this continue to happen, and also watched Practitioner Su continue to advance into deeper spaces.
I want to tell Practitioner Su and Namo Amituofo that our ancestral spirit space still has very deep spaces. The ancestors of our ancestors, the spirits of the spirits, had already wandered the world in more ancient times and then entered this region of China; the time is even three or four times longer than ours. The ancestral spirits in these deep spaces should still be living in their own original spaces, and the spaces of each generation are different. If Practitioner Su also rescues them, it will surely be a great blessing for the ancestral spirits. After all, these ancestral spirits also have grace for our descendants; I hope Namo Amituofo can compassionately help them leave their original spaces. Without the wisdom and Buddha-light of Namo Amituofo, they must still not understand that although they seem to be in a clean and pure space, they are actually restricted by the space and have no real way out; when the time comes and they leave the space, they do not know where to go. This time in the space can also be considered wasted.
This is what I learned after following Namo Amituofo to study the Buddha's teachings; I know that spirituality actually has greater potential. Just like Practitioner Su saving countless suffering beings, if every spirit can make good use of time to help other spirits, it will be more meaningful than being locked in their own space. Just as the early ancestral spirits constantly taught the descendants to be 'pure and kind,' such exertion will be more meaningful than being attached to the original ancestral spirit space. At that time, I chose to retreat in the ancestral spirit space; now I understand that this is also a selfishness of my own. If I can make a vow like Practitioner Su, constantly appearing in the world to help people and spirits escape suffering, and make a vow to follow Namo Amituofo to save the countless suffering beings in this world, perhaps my ancestral spirits and my spirit would not have stayed in the original space for so long.
Seeing Practitioner Su's great deliverance, I now understand that this is also a way to save the tribe. I will not be idle in the space like last time; I hope to follow Practitioner Su in the ranks of delivering sentient beings, help my descendants together, and guide them to the right direction. I also hope to help them improve their polluted magnetic fields. In my time, pollution was already becoming increasingly serious, and now it is even more so, but this time I will not choose to give up, because I know this feasible method of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I will do my best to persuade my tribe members so that they can also learn this method of purity and kindness.
I am grateful to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for giving me this opportunity to introduce the story of our tribe to everyone.
Namo Amituofo.
