The Heart Without Attachment

When your heart is free from attachment, you are able to abide peacefully in every present moment. No matter what circumstances you face in the here and now, you must understand that everything you encounter is a manifestation of the laws of and cause and effect. Every event has a cause, and every cause inevitably bears a fruit. By observing the fruit, one can discern the cause; this is a clarity of vision that only those with an awakened heart can truly possess.

The Wisdom of Stillness

To abide in the present moment is the path of the wise person. It means you do not grasp at external conditions or chase after fleeting phenomena. Instead, you move forward with a direct and sincere heart. Whether you are writing, speaking, observing, or listening, your heart remains in a state of meditative concentration, as still as water without waves.

The Power of Chanting

Abiding in the present moment is a wonderful method for attaining spiritual achievements, whether you are in this world or another. It allows your heart to remain focused and prevents it from becoming scattered. This is especially vital when you chant Buddha's name. When you ensure that every single word and every single phrase is clear and distinct, your heart becomes in sync with the Buddha-heart. In this state, every utterance of the Buddha-name is imbued with the Buddha's .

Purification of Body, Speech, and Mind

By abiding in the present moment, you prevent your Body, Speech, and Mind from jumping about in restlessness. You learn to gather and restrain these three aspects of your being, ensuring that your Body-Mind-Spirit also rests in the present, free from the chaos of a scattered mind.

Following the Buddha's Vows

Ultimately, to abide in the present moment is to align everything you do with the vows and actions of the Buddha. It is the practice of letting go of the "self" to serve all beings. Namo Amituofo.
