This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Koo Chen-fu, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now reflects upon his life and his observations of the spiritual work conducted at the Centre. This interview was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Facie, on August 10, 2019.

Koo Chen-fu speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. Standing from the perspective of a third party, observing the complex relationships between all beings and their , I often find myself truly puzzled. What is it that these karmic creditors actually want? Do they desire endless vengeance, or are they secretly seeking to achieve their own practice and liberation? Every time the temple invites spirits for deliverance, and every time we conduct these interviews, one can faintly perceive that these sentient beings—whether intentionally or unintentionally—reveal the reasons and habits that keep them from letting go. I wonder, have the fourfold assembly truly taken the time to understand and face this reality? Or has the magnificence and convenience of this place caused everyone to overlook this most vital message? Do you truly believe that everything can be resolved simply by inviting spirits to the assembly, without you having to make any personal changes or adjustments yourself?"

The Illusion of a Free Lunch

"Think about it—where in this world is there such a thing as a free lunch? How could those sentient beings, whose negative emotions are so intense that they are beyond communication, possibly let go so easily just because of a few simple words? Their final destination is always to seek out the person who is willing to help resolve the conflict—the one you all call Practitioner Su. In truth, I have never seen anyone else willing to shoulder the burdens brought by the karmic creditors of people they do not know, are not familiar with, and do not understand. If one did not truly possess a heart of dedicated to saving beings, how could one possibly have the mind-capacity to carry all of this?"

The Path of Saving the World

"The path of saving the world is incredibly difficult. If one has not truly learned the spirit of the Buddha, the Buddha's Ultimate Vow, and the Buddha's compassion, it is very hard to continue moving forward on this road. The personalities of people in this world are as varied as the grains of sand. In my own experience, I have encountered countless individuals with temperaments that are difficult to get along with or even comprehend, let alone trying to change them! Seeing everything that Practitioner Su has done, the Ultimate Vows she has made, and the immense power she has exerted, I am both shocked and filled with admiration."

A Call to Awaken

"I wish to remain by her side to offer my own humble strength. I want to see if I can awaken some of the businesspeople who, like me in the past, are lost in the world of commerce. I hope to contribute a little effort toward the grand cause of spreading the Buddha's teachings. I want people to know that the Buddha's teachings can truly transform one's own life, rather than being the mere religious superstition that the world often perceives it to be. In reality, a person can truly learn everything the Buddha possesses. Everything originates from whether one's mental note is in sync with, acting with, and merging with the Buddha. One must thoroughly grind away all the bad habits cultivated in the past and the present life to recover one's original, pure, and unstained self. Only then can one truly master the course of one's own life. Namo Amituofo."

"Namo Amituofo."
