The Compass of Right and Wrong

What is the true standard for distinguishing between right and wrong? In our daily lives, we often find ourselves caught in the web of subjective opinions and worldly confusion. However, the path to clarity is simple and profound. When you act in accordance with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, your actions are considered right. Conversely, when you violate the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, your actions are considered wrong. The laws of and cause and effect serve as the ultimate judge. Every cause you plant will inevitably manifest as either a good or an evil consequence.

The Guiding Light of Wisdom

You might wonder if the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way are too abstract to apply in your daily life. It is easy to feel lost in the complexities of right and wrong, unsure of which path to take. This is precisely why the practice of Buddhism is so vital. The guidance provided by the Buddha or , true spiritual friends, and those who have realised their true nature is indispensable. By listening to their wisdom, you can stop yourself from making mistakes before they occur. This is the highest mental method: to prevent the creation of a negative cause, thereby avoiding the suffering of evil consequences.

Nurturing the Garden of

To truly progress, you must take the negative tendencies within your heart and pull them out by the roots, leaving nothing behind. As you clear away these weeds, you allow your to flourish. Your heart will then transform into a garden of Bodhi. Within this garden, all roots of goodness will bloom and bear fruit, allowing you to give rise to all roots of goodness and achieve the fruit of Bodhi. This is the essence of spiritual growth.

The Radiance of the Awakened Heart

When your heart becomes a pure Buddha-land, you have reached the moment of realising your true nature. In this state, your heart is pure and good. You will see only goodness, and there will be no evil to be found. Everything you do will be right, and you will be completely free from what is wrong. This is why those who have realised their true nature are able to distinguish right from wrong so clearly, with everything becoming clear at a glance. They act entirely in accordance with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. This is what it means to be a Buddha.
