Deliverance to the Western Pure Land: The Journey of Lay Practitioner Liang Mugui
An Interview with Lay Practitioner Liang Mugui
This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Liang Mugui, the father of Lay Practitioner Liang Huiyuan. He sought deliverance through at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia and now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account, recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 16, 2026, reflects upon his profound journey from the depths of suffering to eternal liberation.
Lay Practitioner Liang Mugui speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am waiting here in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss for my turn to be interviewed by the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. Ha! I am the second person to be interviewed, and I must say, it is quite an honour. Today, I am truly overcome with a thousand emotions. My daughter, Huiyuan, has such incredible ; she found the true Buddha, and she performed the Chao Du for both her mother and me. She brought us, in an instant, to this magnificent place—the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss! Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su are truly extraordinary. Just how vast must a person’s heart and vows be to become a Buddha? One only needs to look at Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su to understand. The value of becoming a Buddha is truly, truly precious!"
A Glimpse into the
"I have seen this for myself here in the Western -Nature Land. I have witnessed so many suffering spirits arriving here. It seems like such an effortless thing, yet it is a miracle. When these beings, who are trapped in places of immense suffering, encounter the Buddha-light, they arrive in the Western Dharma-Nature Land in the blink of an eye, just as I did. Such vast mind-capacity allows so many people who have a karmic affinity with the Buddha the chance to be reborn early, to leave suffering behind and gain happiness sooner! Take me, for example. I was a spirit who had suffered through the depths of hell. It was agony—pure, unadulterated agony, every single moment. That was the price I paid for my own difficult personality. I cannot blame anyone else for that. My wife and daughter probably knew it too; it was just that my heart was not inherently evil, but my personality was terrible. My temper was explosive, and I ended up hurting those closest to me."
The Miracle of Karmic Affinity
"Who would have thought that a person like me would still have the chance to come to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss? Beyond the deep Buddhist affinity I must have cultivated in the past, the conditions in this lifetime finally matured. When I emerged, the first beings I encountered were Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su, not anyone else. Such a coincidence is simply marvellous! At this very moment, I can feel myself weeping with , because I am so happy and so grateful. It is just like a child who has been separated from his mother for a long time; the joy the child feels upon seeing his mother is exactly how I feel seeing the Buddha. It is so intimate, so full of Dharma-joy. I had encountered the Buddha before, but in this lifetime, I became polluted. I did not study the Dharma, and I did not realise that my personality was flawed, so I sank into such a long and miserable state. This is why I say that one must never be selfish—not even a little bit! My wife is a wonderful person, which is why she was able to tolerate me for so long. But that does not mean I could escape the consequences of my actions. My retribution was that I fell ill. My body was full of who had 'woken up,' and once they found me, I became sick. This is the same for almost everyone in the world, isn't it? How many people can grow old today without falling ill? I see that as very difficult; no one can avoid the process of ageing and sickness."
The True Buddha at Hsiang Kuang
"However, I see that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia is different! I see Practitioner Su, and he is a true Buddha. His body does not look like that of an old man at all; his organs are as healthy as those of a young person, or perhaps even healthier. So, Huiyuan, you really found the right place! This place is the Buddha’s domain. You must come here, return to the Western Pure Land; and you must tell many other people who have this affinity about this. This is too important for you and for everyone else. Please, do not let your personality cause you to grow old, become sick, and suffer. That is far too painful! Listen more to Practitioner Su’s Dharma talks, chant Namo Amituofo more, and you will come to understand so much more."
"Well, my days here are truly wonderful, and I hope my family and friends can all know this. I am Liang Mugui, and I am a happy resident of the Western Pure Land!"
"Namo Amituofo."
"Liang Mugui speaks."
