This is a record of an interview with Lay Practitioner Liu Shulan, the mother-in-law of Lay Practitioner Yang Shoujie. Having sought deliverance through the compassionate performed at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia, she now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her long, arduous journey through the ghost realm and her eventual deliverance to the Buddha-land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on April 24, 2026.

Lay Practitioner Liu Shulan speaks:

"Namo Amituofo! Greetings to Practitioner Su!

Today is a day of immense, overwhelming . I am here with so many others who have come from the , and together, we have entered directly into the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I want to report my safety to everyone here. I want to tell my family that I am doing wonderfully. I am living a completely new life, a new existence that is fundamentally different from the person I once was. You must set your hearts at ease—please, do not worry for me anymore! Instead, I hope you can be truly happy for me!

The Darkness of the Ghost Realm

I am filled with gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su for their boundless in bringing us all to this pure and dignified Buddha-land. Although I had left the human world over a decade ago, I never imagined that at this very moment, I would encounter such a magnificent turning point in my existence.

For a very long time, I was trapped in a dark, desolate space within the ghost realm. During that period, I had no idea what I was doing; I was completely lost and confused. I only knew that there were many others around me, all engaged in various activities, yet everything seemed disconnected and meaningless. I could see the other spirits around me. It was chilling to witness that after death, many people continued to perform the same tasks they had done while alive: those who sold vegetables were still selling vegetables, and those who slaughtered pigs were still slaughtering pigs. This is the stark truth of what happens after death.

The Truth of Life After Death

Looking back now, it seems that almost everyone is unable to escape this cycle of fate. Before I died, I had no idea that there was such a path—a way to follow the Buddha and be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Perhaps it was because, throughout my entire life, I never truly had the opportunity to encounter such a magnificent .

Most people, just like me, walk the path of birth, aging, sickness, and death. But where one goes after that? That depends entirely on the unique each individual carries. I, Liu Shulan, am deeply grateful to my family in the human world, especially my wonderful daughter-in-law. She recently performed Chao Du for several of us, which led us to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This is her karmic fortune, and it is the great blessing of our entire family!

A Place Beyond Imagination

This place is truly beyond what ordinary people can imagine. The descriptions in the sutras are merely the tip of the iceberg. Many people read those descriptions and feel an immense longing for the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, but in reality, there are so many more magnificent and profound aspects within it that I have yet to explore. Now that I have arrived in this pure Buddha-land, I want to speak from the depths of my heart, as a spirit, to my family: while you are still in the human world, you must diligently practise the Buddha's teachings. You must apply everything the Buddha has said into your daily lives. Only then can you walk the path toward true perfection.

Everything the Buddha has spoken is the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way. If you deviate from this, you will have no way to elevate your own spirit. Just like me—I spent such a long, agonizing time in that vague, helpless space after my death. The suffering of that experience is truly beyond words. When I see that most people in the world are heading toward the same fate, I feel that this is the most tragic thing about human life.

A New Beginning

Since undergoing the purification, I am completely different from who I was before. My entire heart is now incredibly stable and peaceful; there is not a single ripple of disturbance. This is a place where those of us in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss can begin to learn anew. If my family has the Buddhist affinity to study the Dharma, you must do so with sincerity and diligence. It is so incredibly rare for the Buddha to manifest in the world. My tremendous blessing, the fact that I am here today, is entirely due to this Chao Du.

My heart is overflowing with gratitude—gratitude for all these conditions and connections. I am grateful to Namo Amituofo, and I am grateful to Practitioner Su. I am now heading off to continue my purification and to listen to the sutras and hear the Dharma in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Let us meet again in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss!

Namo Amituofo."
