The Illusion of the Waking World

At this very moment, within the sacred grounds of the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Goombungee, Toowoomba, Queensland, Australia, where Namo Amituofo truly abides, the fourfold assembly of disciples has the rare opportunity to witness the profound difference between living in a dream and living in reality. Most people in this world are still wandering through life as if in a deep, persistent dream, unable to wake up to the truth of their existence.

Even when you desire to awaken, you often find yourself unable to do so. Just as you begin to stir, the heavy weight of your past pulls you back into the dream. You may struggle within this dream, fighting to break free, yet you find it difficult to muster the strength required to truly transcend the illusion. This cycle of confusion is the nature of samsara, where the mind is clouded by ignorance and the heart is tethered to the past.

The Diligent Path of Practitioner Su

Consider the example of Practitioner Su. Despite inhabiting a human body, he has dedicated his life to the path of diligent practice. Through his fierce and unwavering commitment, he has successfully rediscovered his true self. He has transformed his life into a vessel for the work of saving beings, ensuring that his physical strength, his mental clarity, and his spiritual essence are all fully utilised in the service of others.

Practitioner Su does not waste a single moment. Every breath and every action is directed towards the salvation of suffering beings. There is not the slightest gap in his practice; he lives in a state of constant, purposeful action. This is what it means to live in reality, rather than in the dream of personal desire or worldly distraction.

A Sanctuary Protected by the Holy Ones

Because Practitioner Su is a true practitioner, he has not only invited the presence of Namo Amituofo to reside here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, but he has also drawn the protection of Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju. This sacred place is further shielded by the grace of all Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, ancestral masters, and the noble beings of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss who have descended to offer their support.

Throughout history, such a phenomenon has been unheard of. It is rare to see a place of practice where the spiritual realms and the physical temple are so closely aligned. Even when Practitioner Su faces the manifestation of karma, such as the physical ailments caused by seeking balance, or when he is subjected to the disturbances of demon crowds, he remains entirely unmoved. He embodies the state of being where may be active, but the heart remains perfectly still and at peace.

Choosing the Path of True

In the wider world, the majority of beings continue to live their lives within the confines of this dream. They are caught in the cycle of birth and death, unaware of the true nature of their existence. However, here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you are given the chance to see both the dream and the reality side by side. You can witness the difference between the turbulence of the dream and the cool, refreshing freedom of true awakening.

This is a choice that lies before every member of the fourfold assembly. Will you continue to drift through the dream, or will you choose the path of reality? Will you allow your karma to dictate your path, or will you follow the guidance of Namo Amituofo and find your way back to your true self? The opportunity is here, the path is clear, and the support of the holy ones is ever-present. Namo Amituofo.
