Everything in the universe originates from the heart. All causes arise from the subtle movements of the mind, and all results manifest through the presence of conditions. If you can return to a state of emptiness, where the heart is no longer stirred by external influences, then the cause has nowhere to take root. In this state of emptiness, you become the true master of your own life. When you are no longer bound by external conditions, the results of past cannot manifest, and you attain true freedom.
To save infinite beings, we must view this physical body as a vehicle—a boat or a carriage—that carries us toward our destination. It is through this vessel that we can lead other beings toward the of Ultimate Bliss. Having this body is essential, for it allows us to put our vows into action. Only when we have a vessel can we travel wherever our vows direct us, and only then will there be a time when our vows are finally fulfilled.
Everything originates from the heart, and it is this very heart that makes the world of every being unique. Whether one dwells in the six realms of existence or attains the state of the Four Sages, the distinction is determined entirely by the heart. You are the one who creates your path, and you are the one who walks it. It is not something that can be arranged or changed by the power of others.
This outcome is determined by the actions of and spirit, which are in turn directed by the heart. Therefore, you must understand that your destination is a reflection of your own inner state.
Everything originates from the heart, and the heart is the very place where you must put in the work of your practice. You must protect your heart with diligence and nurture it with kindness. Specifically, you should:
This is the path that every student of the Buddha must follow. By refining the heart, you ensure that your practice is not in vain, and you move steadily toward the goal of being reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Namo Amituofo.
