Teachings from Bodhisattva Ashvaghosha

The Sacred Gathering in the -Nature Land
Within the sacred Dharma-Nature Land of Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, we find a vast gathering of spirits—the three hun souls and seven po souls of countless beings. Among them, many well-known figures have recently arrived, and it is vital that we clarify the path ahead for them. In the human world, many fail to benefit others or offer true assistance, choosing instead to remain trapped in the cycle of selfishness and self-interest. However, here in the Dharma-Nature Land, as we listen to the teachings, we witness the actions of the true Buddha in the human world: Practitioner Su. Everything that Practitioner Su thinks, considers, and carries out is dedicated entirely to saving the world. He is willing to sacrifice his own small self to achieve the greater good. Such individuals are truly rare in the human world today. It is no exaggeration to say that Namo Amituofo truly abides here at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia.
The Urgency of Saving Beings
Saving people is like extinguishing a fire; it requires immediate and decisive action. This is a lesson that Practitioner Su frequently reminds us of. We must let go of our attachment to . In our practice, there are only two paths to follow: the first is to follow the Buddha in the work of saving the world, and the second is to make a firm, unwavering decision to be reborn in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in this very lifetime.
To all of you residing in the Dharma-Nature Land of Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, I urge you to truly implement the teachings provided by Practitioner Su. Only then will you find the path to salvation. You have all witnessed the daily morning deliverance, where Practitioner Su leads the assembly into the hells. There, you see the negative causes you have created and the immense suffering you have endured. How can you remain unawakened? I must remind you that when you suffer retribution in the hells, the pain is extreme and beyond description. The retribution you face is not something that simply vanishes on its own; you must continue to endure it until the karmic debt is paid. For instance, consider the copper pillar hell: after suffering there, one may be reborn as a worm, and then perhaps as a pig in the animal realm. How long must this cycle of rebirth continue before you can finally leave suffering behind and find liberation?
The Source of the Pure Flow
When you see your own being saved during the Dharma assembly conducted by Practitioner Su, you should feel deep gratitude for his . He has already set up large memorial plaques to help save your ancestors from many lifetimes, as well as your karmic creditors. Practitioner Su does not seek any reward for this immense kindness. The true focus is on how you can help other beings, how you can carry on the Buddha’s teachings, and how you can repay the boundless grace of Namo Amituofo. Throughout the universe, there exists a powerful flow of goodness. This pure flow of goodness originates from the world of Namo Amituofo—the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Practitioner Su has opened this gateway, and the flow has already begun. Where does this Dharma flow? Is it large or small? Does it stop, or does it continue to move? It is like the ocean, vast and endless, or like a stream, which reflects the capacity of one's own heart. It all depends on your own aspiration and the sincerity of your heart.
A Call to
I, Ashvaghosha, speak with the utmost sincerity, and I have complete faith that the long-term presence of the True Teachings is the ultimate Truth. The Dharma requires our support, and it requires the sincere aspiration of the masses. If you do not possess a heart as vast as the Buddha’s, if you do not abandon selfishness and let go of the ego, it will be difficult for you to become a true resident of the Western Pure Land. Every being in the Dharma-Nature Land is a potential resident of the West. It depends on whether you have truly let go of the self, and whether you choose the Western Pure Land or the hells. The purpose of listening to and reciting the Sutras is not merely to understand the words on the page. It is to allow the Dharma to enter your heart, to integrate it into your very being, and to achieve right faith and right understanding in Buddhist education. Only when you truly make a vow and cultivate a sincere heart will you know the nature of your own achievement. You will never find another Pure Land like Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. I urge you all to believe, accept, and practise these teachings.
