This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Lay Practitioner Wang Xianqin, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his spiritual journey following his passing many years ago. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on January 24, 2026.
Lay Practitioner Wang Xianqin speaks:
". It is finally my turn to be interviewed! I believe this is the very last interview of the week. Although I was quite elderly when I lived in the human world, my speech is certainly not slow now. I am no longer the person I once was. This is something I discovered the moment I arrived in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss today. Perhaps I already possessed this clarity back when I was in the Western Land of Nature.
Namo Amituofo, I have finally come to see You. In truth, I had already encountered You while I was in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, but this is the first time I have seen Your true form here in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. You appear even taller and more majestic than before. Yet, I know that You are omnipresent; You are within our hearts, and You have always been within mine."
"Today, I wish to formally express my deepest gratitude to Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. I had been dead for such a long, long time in the human world, and I never imagined that I would suddenly be saved. It was just a few weeks ago when I suddenly heard someone calling my name aloud. My name in the human world was Wang Xianqin. After so much time had passed, I had actually begun to forget my own name. Fortunately, that voice was incredibly gentle yet firm. The moment I heard it, I knew instantly that the Buddha was calling me, Wang Xianqin. So, when I was brought directly by the light to the Western Land of Dharma Nature, I did not feel the slightest bit of unfamiliarity. Instead, I felt as though I was finally returning to my true life.
It is a truly remarkable experience to recount. After I died, I became a single blade of grass in a vast meadow. To this day, I still cannot fathom why I ended up as grass. If I were to be reborn as a living thing, I assumed I would at least be a great tree, but I never expected to become a mere blade of grass. My memories from before my death were hazy and clouded, so I am not entirely certain what my final thought was. Perhaps I was reminiscing about the past. The grass from my childhood was far more beautiful than the grass of today; that image of a lush, vibrant green field still exists in my memory.
During the time I spent as a blade of grass, I was not in pain, but I had absolutely no freedom. Wherever the wind blew me, I had to go. I had no way to master my own destiny. Perhaps it was because my character was inherently resilient that I became such a sturdy little blade of grass."
"However, talking about these things now is no longer important. I simply want to express to everyone that my experience proves that what Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su teach is absolutely correct. Everything we see possesses spirit; there is life within all things, and everything has been a human being at some point in the past. It is just that some are more fortunate than others. I was only a blade of grass for a short time before I was given the opportunity to turn my life around. Others, perhaps, might be a blade of grass on the ground in the middle of a forest, with no one to perform Chao Du for them. In that case, they might remain a blade of grass for millions of years. So, while I thought I had been dead for a very long time, it was not actually that long at all. Considering my 'grass-age' of a few decades, I am still a very young blade of grass!
My dear grandson, thank you for performing Chao Du for me. Thank you for not forgetting me. Opportunities for such heavenly are truly rare, and to have the good fortune to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is something I am deeply grateful for and cherish immensely. I will certainly follow the Buddha's teachings diligently from this day forward.
Namo Amituofo."
