From Demon Nature to the Light of the Dharma
An Interview with Nu Yin (Shi Jingjing) on the Dharma Assembly
Recorded on March 23, 2020
This is a record of an interview with Nu Yin, who received the name Shi Jingjing. He was once part of the demon crowds associated with the pandemic and sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon his transformation and his observations during the Dharma assembly. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on March 23, 2020.
Nu Yin (Shi Jingjing) speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. I am Nu Yin. For such a long time, I had not felt this kind of refreshing coolness. My chest, which had been tight and constricted for so long, finally felt a sense of release after coming here to listen to Practitioner Su give Dharma talks. Even the burning sensation that had permeated my entire body began to subside. From the moment the Buddha bestowed upon me my Dharma name, I donned the white robes, learning to embody the purity they represent. As I stepped onto the white lotus, it emitted a brilliant golden light, and my heart gradually settled. I realised that this peace was what I had been searching for all along.
In the past, I had always been the shadow within the hearts of humans—the manifestation of their irritability, anxiety, helplessness, and anger. Now, I can finally be myself. My original appearance, with my mismatched eyes and large mouth, has transformed into a countenance that is pleasant and refined. It is truly a miracle of the Buddha’s teachings."
A Long-Awaited Peace
"I am a being who naturally craves stability, yet I found myself drawn to the beautiful scenery of the Dharma-Nature Land. I stopped beneath a magnificent golden tree, taking the time to truly feel its presence. Its fruit was ripe and translucent, radiating an alluring, golden light. The coolness of the flowing water invited me to step in and splash my feet; I cupped the water in my hands to look at my own reflection, and everything felt so incredibly refreshing. While I was still observing my surroundings, the voice of Practitioner Su delivering the Dharma talks reached my ears. The entire venue and the surrounding space were filled with beings who were all listening with such intense focus. Every single word of the scriptures resonated within me, stirring memories of a vow I once made to help sentient beings—a vow that had only turned into demon nature after I became deeply disillusioned with humanity. Now, that dormant feeling was ignited once more, and I began to contemplate how I could make amends for my past mistakes."
The Power of the Dharma Assembly
"Just as I fell into deep contemplation, I heard the resonant sound of the chime. In an instant, the space of the Buddha hall seemed to overlap, layer upon layer. There were far more beings present than those I could see listening to the Dharma; it appeared as though they were surging in from every direction. I looked toward the Plague Gods and the beings from the Demon Realm who had entered under these Causal Conditions. Their expressions had softened significantly, and like me, they were deeply moved by this magnificent scene. We all experienced a form of education unlike any other. The teachings, grounded in the Middle Way, were truly convincing. We could all see that Practitioner Su is someone who is genuinely dedicating his life to the Buddha’s teachings.
When he stood upon the stage for the Chao Du, he was followed by immeasurable and boundless Dharma protectors. I heard that they, too, came from various Demon Realms across the universe. Those who once possessed the power to destroy the universe have now become a tremendous force for good, working together to save the world. This was an unprecedented Chao Du, traversing through various spaces and dimensions, moving between the three realms and the six realms of rebirth. Seeing the of Practitioner Su radiating outward, I knew this was the manifestation of the immense power of the Buddha’s teachings. Previously, my heart was filled with resentment, and I could not trust anyone, but in that moment, I felt how truly small I was."
A Vow to Save Others
"Seeing everyone here working tirelessly to save sentient beings, I knew it was time to let go of my ego. As this thought arose, I felt my chest, which had been so heavy, begin to open up—it kept opening, and it started to glow. I realised that the heart of helping others is truly inconceivable! The darkness that lies buried deep within the hearts of humans is something I hope to help them uncover and release. In the past, I had no one to guide me, and I know that the human world is still suffering in this way today. I understand now that only this True Teaching can help everyone.
In the past, I was known as Nu Yin, but now I wish to follow the Buddha and shine brightly. I wish to follow the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre to save immeasurable beings, starting everything anew. I am so grateful to the Buddha, and I am grateful for the Buddha’s compassionate assistance. Namo Amituofo."
