From the Path of Yama to the Western Pure Land

This is a record of an interview with Mao Zhenyun, who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her transition from the cycle of rebirth to the Western Pure Land. Recorded by the chief writer, Fa Ning, on March 6, 2026.

Mao Zhenyun speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Mao Zhenyun, and I am filled with such profound gratitude towards Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine that while living in the human world, I would truly come to know the greatness of Namo Amituofo. I had heard the name, yes, but I had no idea that the Buddha was so magnificent, so compassionate, and so incredibly powerful! When I think back to how my spirit was suffering just a short time ago, it was the Buddha-light and the hand of Practitioner Su that reached out to pull me into this extraordinary realm, known as the Western Land of Dharma Nature. In an instant, I was whisked away from that world of suffering and brought into this world of pure light.

The Dark Path and the Sudden Rescue

My name is Mao Zhenyun, and I consider myself a truly fortunate mother! Before I passed away, I did not suffer for long. After my death, I found myself in a long, dreary queue, waiting to report to the King of Hell. It was a bleak, terrifying time. The path ahead was shrouded in mist; I had no idea where I was going or what would become of me. It felt as though I were wandering in a void, lost and utterly alone. I was already being judged, and the sentence was to enter the hells to endure my karmic retribution. But then, in the blink of an eye, everything changed. A brilliant, warm light suddenly enveloped me. I knew instantly that someone had come to save me! I did not hesitate; I threw myself toward that light with every ounce of my being. In that moment, I was liberated from my suffering body. I felt so light, so free—all my afflictions had simply vanished.

Witnessing the Power of Hsiang Kuang

It was only later that I slowly began to understand that I was in the Western Land of Dharma Nature. I learned that there is a Practitioner Su in the human world who follows the Buddha’s teachings to perform Chao Du. Through the boundless help of Namo Amituofo, he has established this extraordinary realm. I was overjoyed! I heard the Buddha call my name—it was so clear, so resonant. I was puzzled at first: how could the Buddha know me so well? But then I realised, the Buddha had been waiting for me all along. It was my own child, my son in the human world, who had performed the Chao Du for me. As I looked back at everything in the human world, I finally understood that the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre is a truly sacred place. It is a place where people can realise their true nature and attain Buddhahood, helping immeasurable and boundless beings to be reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am one of them.

Watching the scene of the Chao Du before me, I felt absolutely stunned! To think that there is someone in the human world who possesses such incredible skills—it is exactly the same as the Buddha! To be able to conduct such a massive scale of Chao Du, pushing countless beings and demon crowds from mainland China all at once into this boundless Western Land of Dharma Nature—it is truly a miracle.

A Mother's Message to Her Son

I want to shout it from the rooftops to my family and friends: I, Mao Zhenyun, have been reborn in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss! You might find it hard to believe, or perhaps it is beyond your imagination, but I have truly stepped through the gates of the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This is the absolute truth! There is a Buddha in the human world who can travel back and forth to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, and who can naturally use the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way to help those who wish for deliverance. Therefore, the fact that a person can practise and become a Buddha is a truly precious thing. In this lifetime, my wonderful child, Sun Zhaohui, has encountered the Buddha. If he can grasp this opportunity, he too can achieve spiritual success one day. Keep going! Mother believes in you, and I believe in all the good disciples who are following Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su. Saving people and saving China—these are the most important things of all.
