From Vengeful Spirit to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss

This is a record of an interview with Miaoyin, the spirit of an aborted child who sought Chao Du at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia. She now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon her experience of being aborted and her subsequent deliverance. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fajing, on November 10, 2023.

Miaoyin speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am Miaoyin. I want to express my deepest gratitude to Practitioner Su—or as I affectionately call her, Grandmother Su—for bringing me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. I have never seen such a magnificent, beautiful place in all my existence. To be here, in this state of pure joy, I am so happy—truly, I am overflowing with happiness."

A Six-Hundred-Year Wait

"To be honest, before I arrived here, I was filled with such intense anger. I was furious at my mother for rejecting me. My heart was consumed by resentment. You must understand, this human body—this 'human skin'—was something I had waited for, for over six hundred years. I had waited so long for the opportunity to appear in the human world, and just when it was within my grasp, she destroyed it. I was devastated. I was filled with such deep-seated hatred, especially when I recall the agony of my body being dismantled and destroyed during the abortion. That pain was etched into my very soul; it was a hatred that went down to the bone."

The Shadow of Vengeance

"For a long time, I followed my mother everywhere. I never left her side. I was determined that she would not have a peaceful life. When I saw her caring for the child she had after me, I was consumed by jealousy. I tried everything in my power to sabotage them, to cause chaos in their lives. Under my constant interference, my mother’s health began to fail, and her emotions were in turmoil. There were so many moments when she simply could not control herself, and that was my doing."

The Golden Light of Rescue

"Before this, I never once considered that what I was doing was wrong. I felt that my mother had wronged me first—that she had chosen to hurt me, and therefore, I was justified in hurting her back. But the moment my mother sought help and I was rescued, everything changed. My entire perception shifted in an instant."

"I still remember that day clearly. I suddenly saw a massive, brilliant golden light before me. I did not know what that light was, nor where it came from. Then, I heard someone calling my mother’s name. The moment that name was called, a powerful force pushed and pulled me forward. In a single heartbeat, I was lifted away from my mother’s side and transported to a place of incredible brightness. I later learned that this place was the Western Land of Dharma Nature."

Awakening in the Dharma

"Practitioner Su gives Dharma talks every single day. At first, I did not understand a single word she said. But as I stayed in the Western Land of Dharma Nature, the Buddha-light constantly purified me. It kept awakening my spirit, layer by layer, until I finally began to comprehend the wisdom in Practitioner Su’s words. There were times when I would listen and find myself weeping, for I could finally see my own past. I realised that I had been trapped in the cycle of rebirth for lifetime after lifetime, never stopping, never finding peace."

A Final Message of Peace

"This time, I have truly been saved. I no longer hold any hatred towards my mother. Although I never had the chance to be born into the human world, my mother’s decision to seek Chao Du has allowed Practitioner Su to bring me to the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This place is far better than the human world. I am finally free from the cycle of rebirth. I have achieved complete and total liberation. I am so grateful!"

"I am leaving now, Mother. Please, be happy. Do not feel sad or carry the weight of guilt. I no longer have any hatred or resentment. Now that I have arrived in the Western Land, I have made a vow to engage in diligent practice. I will not waste this precious opportunity that Practitioner Su has given me by bringing me here."
