Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
". I am Lee Kuan Yew. Since Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia rescued me from the depths of the hells and guided me to the Western Pure Land, I have been sending messages to you, my son, Hsien Loong. I have constantly hoped that you would come to speak with me, yet there has been nothing but silence. It is a heavy thing for a father to wait in vain.
The path of politics is never as simple as one might imagine. The human heart is complex, and to balance every interest and every perspective is an arduous task—this is what people call 'political skill.' Even so, in the time I have spent listening to the teachings in the Buddha Hall here, I have come to realise a vital concept that I wish to share with you: the importance of 'growing roots of goodness.' When you focus your intentions on what is virtuous and wholesome, a positive conclusion will naturally emerge. Think about it—if the root is good, the fruit cannot be bitter.
I know how exhausting your life has been. You must remember that as long as everything you do is for the welfare of the people of Singapore—and not for personal gain—you can find peace of mind. Your conscience will be clear, and that is the only true comfort in this world. Do not let the noise of the world drown out the clarity of your original nature.
I will not give up on waiting for your arrival. I have said so much already, but there is more to share. Your mother is also here in the Western Pure Land. If you come to the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia, both of us can speak with you. Regarding the issues that currently cause you such headaches and seem impossible to resolve, perhaps my experience can offer you a better perspective, a better choice, and a more decisive path forward. I am waiting for you. Please, do not let your parents wait too long! Namo Amituofo."
