The True Home Beyond the Nation
An Interview with the Spirit of Lee Kuan Yew
Recorded on September 18, 2018
This is a record of an interview with the spirit of Lee Kuan Yew, who sought deliverance at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. He now resides in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account was recorded by the chief writer, Shi Faxin, on September 18, 2018.
Lee Kuan Yew speaks:
"Namo Amituofo. Wherever people gather, there will inevitably be a surge of rights and wrongs, disputes and complications. It was precisely because I possessed such foresight that I established the laws of Singapore with such rigorous precision. I did not want even the slightest crack or loophole to drag the nation down. The forward-looking vision of a country and the pulse of the world—these were things I understood as clearly as the palm of my hand.
The Burden of Governance
Opening up to tourism, opening up the economy—to lift a nation, one must exhaust every ounce of mental energy. The effort poured into this, the policies announced—perhaps some were reasonable, perhaps some were not—all served the singular purpose of driving the nation forward. Hsien Loong, your father left you a heavy responsibility to manage. I know that you, too, have dedicated every ounce of your strength to the nation.
But Hsien Loong, a person will always have times of exhaustion, times of illness, times of old age, and eventually, the time of death. When you face these realities, how do you feel? Is there unease? Is there fear? As a man, even if you possess great strength, it is perfectly normal to feel fear when death approaches. Hsien Loong, I do not wish for you to walk the same path of life that everyone else follows—a path that leads only to the cycle of rebirth.
A Discovery Beyond the World
I had to pass through those very processes of life and death before I could arrive here, in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, where there is no birth and no death. The magnificent beauty of this place is beyond the power of words to describe. I want you to know that both your mother and I have arrived at this wonderful destination. The merits and demerits of a lifetime are nearly exhausted, and I have seen beyond the shifting winds of the world.
I have discovered that there is a different place in this universe—a place where we treat one another with sincerity, where there are no relationships based on profit, and where the only goal is the pure heart of becoming a Buddha. The people of Singapore also need this place. Everyone's heart has become too impoverished and ill. The vastness of the Buddha’s teachings is the key to the liberation of the spirit. In this world of equality and non-seeking, Hsien Loong, you should lead the people toward a place where their hearts can truly rest.
The True Home
The Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia is a place that the world must discover. People do not truly die; they do not truly perish. They are simply returning to their original, true home. Hsien Loong, your father is in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss. This place is your true home. Please, give your father some good news. I am waiting for your arrival."
Namo Amituofo.
