Healing the Wounded Heart
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
Recorded by Venerable HaiZe on December 2, 2022
The Mystery of the Heart
Namo Amituofo asks: Where does the heart reside? Is it in the empty space, within , or deep inside the spirit? The heart is intangible; it cannot be touched, nor can it be seen. Yet, we feel it. What kind of heart is it that suffers? Is it the physical heart of flesh and blood, or is it the wandering, anxious mind? Does it have flaws, or has it been wounded?
Who Carries the Weight of Sorrow?
Whose heart is it that suffers? Is it your own heart, the hearts of all beings, the hearts of your , or perhaps the hearts of the demon crowds? Could it be that everyone’s heart has been wounded at some point, and it is this collective history of pain that has shaped who you are today?
The Many Faces of Suffering
Why does the heart suffer? The reasons are as varied as the lives we lead:
- Children suffer when they are scolded by adults, feeling the sting of rejection and fear.
- People suffer as they age, watching their bodies decline, losing their independence, and feeling the weight of their own frailty.
- Families suffer through the death of their loved ones, enduring the agony of separation and the void left behind.
- Seekers of the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way suffer when they search everywhere but cannot find the path they long for.
- Practitioners suffer when they encounter bottlenecks in their cultivation, unable to break through or transform their state of mind.
- Practitioners suffer as they travel across thousands of mountains and rivers, yet still fail to find their true self.
The Ripple Effect of a Wounded Heart
A wounded heart creates ripples of disturbance. These ripples act as a beacon, attracting your karmic creditors, causing your to manifest, and drawing in attached spirits. This makes your body feel heavier and your heart ache even more. Therefore, my children, I ask you to first stop this cycle of heart-wounds.
