Kneeling in Gratitude for the Buddha's Grace
The Fifteenth Letter of Lay Practitioner Zhao Liangyu
Recorded on September 6, 2017
The Arrival at the
For so long, I, Zhao Liangyu, have yearned for the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Now, at last, I have arrived. I kneel in deep, heartfelt gratitude to Practitioner Su for his boundless grace. Before arriving here, it was impossible for me to truly imagine or comprehend the sublime beauty and perfection of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. It is a realm beyond the reach of ordinary thought, a place of such purity and peace that words can only hint at its majesty.
The Wisdom of the Sutras and the Reality of Experience
Although the Sutra describes the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss in such meticulous and vivid detail, one must personally experience this realm to truly understand it. I now see why so many eminent monks and great virtuous ones, as well as Practitioner Su, have worked so tirelessly and with such compassionate hearts to awaken the confused and deluded beings of this world. They call out to us, urging us to practise, for to miss this opportunity is a loss of immeasurable proportions. If you do not come to the Western Pure Land, you are truly missing the greatest treasure of existence.
The Necessity of the Path
The path of practice is not an easy one, yet it is a path that we must walk. We have no other choice, for we are being pursued by our past. We are followed by our —those beings from our past lives who seek balance for the harms they once suffered. However, our vow should be even greater than our fear. While we are still alive, we must strive to help these karmic creditors reach the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, allowing them to leave the ocean of suffering behind forever.
The Compassionate Guidance of Practitioner Su
Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia can help us with this vital task. This is not merely a selfish endeavour to improve one's own physical health or well-being. Beyond the work of saving our karmic creditors who have been trapped in the sea of suffering for eons, Practitioner Su hopes to awaken every living Buddha. He wishes for us to rediscover our original nature, to attain the state of an awakened being, and to attain the same capacity for as he possesses. By doing so, we can help more people who are in need, spreading the true meaning of the Buddha’s teachings far and wide. This is the true meaning of helping others as we help ourselves—a cycle of mutual support that reaches the highest point of universal harmony.
A Mother's Hope and a Final Vow
My son, Ding Hong, has not yet accumulated sufficient to come to this place and learn the supreme . I, Zhao Liangyu, will strive diligently here in the Western Pure Land, learning before the Buddha so that I may one day possess the true attainment to help others, including my son. I am here in the Western Pure Land because Practitioner Su of the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre in Australia personally guided me here. Do not doubt this; it is an absolute and undeniable fact. If there is any way that I can offer even the smallest contribution, please, Practitioner Su, call upon me. I will not hesitate; I will give my all. Once again, I kneel to thank the Buddha for His grace. I kneel to thank Practitioner Su for his grace. Such great ! Namo Amituofo!
