The Sanctuary of the Heart

Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Shi Haize. On the fifteenth day of January, two thousand and twenty-three, during the , these words were shared to guide all practitioners on their journey toward .

For those who have already set aside the dust of the mundane world to enter the Buddha’s gate, you have done so for many profound reasons. You are seeking the Truth, or perhaps you wish to heal your body and soothe your weary heart. You may be striving to find your true self, hoping to no longer wander in search of a place for your heart to rely upon. You wish to no longer be shaken in your pursuit of the and your quest to rediscover your true self by the changes in external environments, slander, or adversity.

Transcending the Shadows of

You hope to be self-mastered, no longer suffering from the manifestation of karma as come to seek revenge and repay grievances. This is entirely possible because the Buddha is present; the Buddha is the eternal refuge for all. Although you, as a child of the Buddha, may suffer because you do not listen to the Buddha’s words, choosing instead to follow the sensations of your physical body and the manifestation of the karma of old age and illness, there is a way to liberation.

If you, as a child, are willing to listen to the Buddha’s words and no longer listen to the sensations of the physical body, you will find peace. You must come to know the impermanence of old age and illness, know the various sufferings of the laws of karma and cause and effect and reincarnation, and know that the sins of the past can rival Mount Sumeru and be as deep as the great ocean. By truly repenting and changing your ways, you will find the path forward.

The Eternal Embrace of the Buddha

The Buddha will not abandon you or reject you; please, child, set your heart at ease. The Buddha is always waiting with outstretched hands for you to return—at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre, within the hearts of all children, and in every single recitation of the Buddha-name, Namo Amituofo. When you chant with a sincere heart, you are connecting directly with the infinite of the Buddha. Trust in this connection, for it is the bridge that will lead you home to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
