Opening the Heart to the Infinite Light

Teachings from Namo Amituofo:

Throughout the vast expanse of time, your spirit has wandered through the six realms of rebirth. You have traversed the hells, the realm of hungry ghosts, the animal realm, the human realm, the heavenly realm, and the realm of the asuras. You have even travelled across mountains and oceans, existing as the myriad spirits of the earth. You have tasted every flavour of life—the sour, the sweet, the bitter, and the spicy—and you have endured the profound joys and deep sorrows of separation and reunion. You have suffered the agonies of birth, aging, sickness, and death countless times over.

The Endless Cycle of Wandering

In this present life, your heart has once again entered a human body. You have spent many years within this physical form, experiencing the fleeting nature of existence. Now, at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, there is a hope that your heart can finally find a place of true peace and security. You must stop drifting and wandering, no longer allowing your mind to rise and fall with the changing conditions of the world.

At this very moment, Namo Amituofo, Teacher Practitioner Xia Lianju, and Practitioner Su are here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, accompanying the assembly as we practise diligently. We ask that you open your heart and strive to rediscover your true nature. Whether you are looking inward at your own body and spirit, or looking outward at the external environment and conditions, you must learn to use skillful means to save yourself and others, leaving suffering behind to find rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.

The Weight of Karmic Debt

This physical body carries the weight of the karmic causes and effects that your heart and spirit have accumulated over aeons. When the fruits of these causes have not yet manifested, life may seem calm and smooth. However, when the karmic fruits manifest and the power of your karma is revealed, the situation changes:

• If the fruit is good, you will enjoy health, vitality, and success in all your endeavours.If the fruit is evil, the beings and karmic creditors residing within your body will begin to seek balance.They will demand repayment for past grievances, causing your body to face the impermanence of aging, sickness, and the suffering of death.

Opening the Heart to the Healing Dharma

You must open your heart. Allow the water of the Buddha’s teachings to flow into the hearts of your karmic creditors, into the hearts of all suffering beings, and into your own heart. This will wash away the layers of defilement accumulated over the past. By listening to the sutras and hearing the Dharma, you allow the sound of the Truth to enter these hearts, helping everyone understand that the root of suffering is the relentless pressure of karma.

Know that this suffering can be resolved; you do not have to remain in pain. By accepting the Chao Du and the spiritual deliverance offered here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre, you can resolve the suffering of aeons. Keep the Buddha-name constant in your mind. Let the blessings and the power of the merit of the six-character name of Namo Amituofo enter the hearts of your karmic creditors, all beings, and your own heart.

The Transformative Power of Buddha-Light

This practice will purify the heart, allowing it to move from darkness into the light. When the heart is no longer clouded by resentment, you can let go of the past and cease the cycle of revenge. Through chanting Namo Amituofo, you will be able to attain rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. Furthermore, allow the Buddha-light and the twelve rays of Buddha-light to shine upon you:

• Let this light enter the hearts of your karmic creditors and all suffering beings.Let it soften the hearts of the demon crowds, who are often trapped by their own suffering.Let it dissolve their demon nature, so they may be willing to accept the Buddha’s guidance and surrender to the path of light.

These are the services that Namo Amituofo provides here at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre for all beings, for the demon crowds, and for the fourfold assembly of disciples. It is our sincere hope that we can assist you in leaving suffering behind to find happiness and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. However, you must open your heart. Do not continue the cycle of karmic retribution. Let go of the entanglements of karma, receive the bright light of liberation, and ultimately, be saved and enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
