Navigating the Trials of Life
My children, if you possess true faith in the Buddha, if you hold the sincere vow to save all beings and guide them to the Western Land, and if you translate these intentions into actual, daily practice, you will find the strength to endure. Regardless of the nature of the tests you face—whether they are tests from the Buddha, tests from demonic forces, or tests arising from the among sentient beings—you must remain steadfast. You must maintain a heart that is upright, selfless, and devoid of ego. Do not allow these beings or negative forces to find any foothold in your mind. By maintaining a heart that is truly pure, you deny them any leverage. Even when your body suffers, you will be able to overcome these challenges.
The Sacred Vessel of
No matter what happens, holding firmly to the Buddha-name is the supreme strategy. Even if you are on the verge of entering the Western Land, this practice will help elevate the grade of your lotus seat. Because you have a physical body, you are able to realise your true self and attain Buddhahood. Therefore, you must protect this body with wisdom. Protecting the body also has its proper way; you must maintain your health so that you do not suffer from unnecessary injury or the threat of losing your life. However, you must not become overly attached to or excessively pamper this body. If you do, you will allow delusions and messy thoughts to arise incessantly. This constant state of impurity will only serve to exhaust your merits, , and wisdom.
The Unfailing Power of the Buddha-Name
No matter how harsh the frost or snow may be, if your heart remains firm in your practice and your pursuit of , you will continue your diligent practice day after day. In this way, you will surely pass through the winter and see the spring sun. When you grow old or fall ill, and your body is no longer under your control, you will finally understand the terrifying nature of . You may search everywhere for peace of mind and something reliable to hold onto, but you will find nothing that can truly settle your heart. Suddenly, you hear the sacred Buddha-name resounding: Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo, Namo Amituofo. As you chant, your heart finds peace, and you forget your suffering.
Where Namo Amituofo Abides
You may ask, where can one find Namo Amituofo? Namo Amituofo abides within the hearts of all beings, upon your lips, within your head, your eyes, and in every pore of your body. Namo Amituofo is also present within the all-encompassing Buddha-light that shines throughout the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. Namo Amituofo is protecting you, helping you pass through every minute and every second. It is my sincere wish that all who come here may find peace and health in body, mind, and spirit, that your true self may be revealed, and that your heart and spirit may find a permanent home. The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss is your true destination.
