The Heart of No Resentment: The Teachings of Practitioner Su
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
Teachings from Namo Amituofo, recorded by the Buddha's disciple, Venerable HaiZe.
What kind of heart can give to all beings without resentment or expectation of return? It is a heart that does not seek personal gain or recognition. It is a heart that exists solely for the benefit of others, ensuring that they can walk upon the Right Way, free from confusion and wrong paths. This heart exists only so that others may practise, realise their true nature, and carry on the lineage of the .
The Boundless of the Buddha
Through the power of the , the Buddha performs the work of . This is a mission to save infinite, boundless suffering beings, helping them to leave their current space and the various realms of existence. By doing so, the Buddha provides them with the precious opportunity to chant Namo Amituofo, enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, or be reborn into the human and heavenly realms.
The Buddha even takes upon Himself the suffering of these beings. These are the spirits that manifest within the bodies of the fourfold assembly of disciples when they are undergoing the process of resolving karmic conflicts. They are also the beings that follow the Buddha during the process of Chao Du.
The Natural Manifestation of the Awakened Heart
This great, compassionate action is the very heart and conduct of the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas. Such a vast mind-capacity is not something that can be reached by the average practitioner or those following the . When a practitioner engages in diligent practice and purification, their original nature naturally begins to manifest. This is not something achieved through external force; rather, it is a natural phenomenon that arises from within.
Transforming the Shadows into Light
The work of the Buddha involves the profound task of subduing demonic enemies and transforming the infinite crowds of demons. Through this compassion, these beings are moved to surrender and are then guided to the Western Land of Nature at Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. This process involves several key aspects:
- Subduing the demonic enemies that cause harm.
- Transforming the demon crowds through the power of compassion.
- Inviting these spirits to surrender their hostility.
- Sending them to the Western Land of Dharma Nature to find a new beginning.
The Buddha’s Walk in the World
Even when is subjected to attacks from these demonic forces—affecting the head, eyes, throat, and legs—there is no anger, no resentment, no fear, and no panic. Despite the physical suffering, the heart remains filled with compassion and inclusivity. By accepting the surrender of these demonic beings, the Buddha provides them with the opportunity to repent, change their ways, and enter the Buddha's path to be reborn.
This heart, this vow, and this conduct are identical to the heart, vow, and conduct of the Buddhas. This is the Buddha walking in the world. This is the work of Practitioner Su. Namo Amituofo.
