Children, have you ever perceived the fragrance of virtue, the fragrance of the , and the fragrance of purity that emanates from Practitioner Su? This is especially evident in his ability to travel freely between the of Ultimate Bliss and the human world. When he returns from the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, his body and the very room he enters are filled with the exquisite scent of the lotus. This is the fragrance of the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and the natural scent of the beings of the Western Land.
The Fragrance of a Pure Heart
How many people in this world can truly travel back and forth between these realms with such ease? To possess such skills, one must cultivate the same compassionate heart and great vows as Practitioner Su. One must hold the vow to save countless suffering beings, and possess the unwavering perseverance to carry this work forward directly. One must be willing to endure the suffering of others and the physical hardships that come with this sacred task. By ensuring that one’s thoughts are good, one’s intentions are good, one’s speech is good, and one’s actions are good, one’s Body-Mind-Spirit becomes pure and untainted. Only then can one enter the ranks of the awakened being.
The Path of Compassionate Vows
When the spirit leaves , it must be pure, and one must be diligently chanting the name of Namo Amituofo. Only in this state can one see , enter the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and subsequently return to the human body. Through this process, one learns to recognise the path to the West, allowing one to travel back and forth with . The spirit of such a practitioner is pure and unstained, and their body radiates a brilliant light. They have transcended the following obstacles:
- Greed, Anger, Ignorance, Arrogance, and Doubt
- The : wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep
They have attained a state of and selflessness, replaced by , , and the willingness to let go.
Becoming One with Namo Amituofo
Namo Amituofo is the first priority in their life. They chant the name of Namo Amituofo in every thought, never departing from the Buddha. Within their heart, there is only the Buddha; there is no self, only the desire to serve all beings. When one reaches this state, one’s heart is one with Amitabha, one’s actions are the same as Amitabha, and one’s vows are identical to those of Amitabha. This heart is perfectly in sync with Amitabha and the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
Soaring Through the Realm
Because of this alignment, the spirit can soar through the void of the Milky Way with total freedom. One can naturally transcend the twenty-eight levels of heaven, breaking through the limitations of space. Through the power of , countless beings within the Earth and the Dharma Realm have been saved, including the demon crowds who have also been brought into the light. When your heart reaches this state, your heart is Amitabha, and you are free to travel back and forth to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss at will.
