Recognising the Truth: Words of Namo Amituofo
Teachings from Namo Amituofo
The Necessity of Clear Perception
You must learn to recognise the truth of existence. Only when you clearly perceive the reality of your situation can you stop drifting aimlessly with the currents of reincarnation. It is this clarity that allows you to develop a genuine heart of renunciation, a profound weariness for the cycle of reincarnation, and the determination to stop creating the karmic causes that keep you trapped within it. By recognising the truth, you finally gain the strength to liberate yourself from the cycle of reincarnation.
The Whirlpool of
Karma acts like a powerful, relentless whirlpool. It pulls all beings into its depths, spinning them around in a cycle of suffering from which they feel powerless to resist. However, when you receive the Buddha's from the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, you are given a lifeline. When you truly understand the depth of your suffering and sincerely chant Buddha's name with the aspiration for rebirth in the Western Land of Ultimate Bliss, you will naturally receive the Buddha's rescue. To achieve this, you must have complete faith in the Buddha and faith in your own true self.
The Foundation of Faith
Faith is of paramount importance to all Buddhist practitioners. As the saying goes, faith is the source of the Way and the mother of all virtues; it is the very foundation upon which you can realise your true self and attain Buddhahood. When you have faith in the Buddha, your true heart can manifest, and only then does the possibility of becoming an awakened being arise. The Buddha is the practitioner of the Truth and the righteous path. The Buddha truly exists, and every single being has the opportunity to become a Buddha. The Western Land of Ultimate Bliss exists within the hearts of those who believe in the Buddha and who believe in the existence of that pure realm.
The Illusion of the Physical Form
The ultimate truth is that becoming an awakened being is the only reality. This physical body is merely a temporary gathering of Causal Conditions. It is not permanent; it is a transient vessel that will eventually dissolve. Because of the existence of this body, you form various relationships and attachments, all of which operate within the laws of karma and the cycle of birth and death. You must not have attachment, lest you lead this body astray. Through the practice of True Cultivation, you have the precious opportunity to rediscover your true self. This is the true value of possessing a human body.
Transcending the
You must recognise that the following are all products of your attachment to this temporary body:
- Greed, Anger, Ignorance, Arrogance, and Doubt
- The of wealth, lust, fame, food, and sleep
These are all illusory phenomena that arise and perish according to Causal Conditions. If you allow yourself to be driven by these illusions, you will create negative causes that lead to the suffering of the hells. While creates these causes, it is your spirit that suffers the consequences. Once this truth is known, you must understand to avoid such actions. Namo Amituofo.
