This is a record of an interview with the third aborted spirit of Lay Practitioner Wu, who sought at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre in Australia. The spirit now resides in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. This account reflects upon the spirit's journey from the depths of resentment to the light of the Buddha. Recorded by the chief writer, Shi Fa-xin, on January 17, 2025.

The spirit speaks:

"Namo Amituofo. I am the third child, the one who was lost between 1971 and 1975. Right now, the world before my eyes is filled with a brilliant, radiant light. The Great Compassionate Namo Amituofo has embraced me, and for the first time, I feel a profound sense of hope for the future. I have finally arrived at the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. The beauty here is beyond anything I could have ever imagined. I find myself opening my eyes wide, filled with curiosity, trying to take in every single detail. I see countless lotus flowers, each one glowing with a unique, vibrant colour. Every lotus possesses its own distinct vitality, and the sheer translucence of these flowers brings such a deep, cooling clarity to my heart.

The Cooling Waters of the Seven-Jewel Pond

I cast my gaze further and see the golden sand at the bottom of the Seven-Jewel Pond. When I reached out my hand, longing to touch that shimmering golden sand, I felt the gentle, perfect temperature of the water in the pond. In that very instant, a wave of comfort washed over my entire being, and I felt so incredibly at ease. For a spirit like me, having just arrived in this magnificent Pure Land, everything is a wonder. I want to see everything, and I want to know everything.

I hear the sound of the Buddha-name, 'Namo Amituofo,' echoing all around me. I could not help but hum along with the melody. I soon discovered that whenever I chant the Buddha-name, the scenery of the Western Pure Land becomes even clearer and more vivid before my eyes. This discovery has inspired me to keep chanting the Buddha-name continuously.

A Debt of Gratitude

I am so deeply grateful. I am grateful to Namo Amituofo, and I am grateful to Practitioner Su for taking my hand and leading me to this Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss. I am also deeply thankful to my mother, with whom I had no Causal Conditions in the human world, for helping me through the Chao Du ceremony. Because of her, my wandering soul has finally found such a wonderful place to call home.

The Fire of Resentment and the Path to Deliverance

Let me tell you, it was not always like this. In the beginning, it was only because of my deep resentment that I fell into the hells. My anger, my burning hatred, transformed into the very fires of hell that scorched me. I resented that the chance to be reborn, which I had waited so long for, had been destroyed just like that. I was so angry, so full of fury. I never imagined that this very anger would be the thing that harmed me the most.

I had such a difficult temperament, and because of that, when I encountered these circumstances, I reacted with such intensity. I felt that I did not deserve to suffer like that. But now, having arrived at the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss and looking back, I finally understand that many of these Causal Conditions were already destined. If I were not a spirit now, but still living in the human world, I would never have had the to be reborn in the Western Pure Land.

A Message of Peace to My Mother

Having seen through all of this, I have let go of my hatred. I have chosen to embrace the same tolerance and that the Buddha possesses. No matter what the past Causal Conditions were, I am now in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, and I am so very grateful. I hope that my mother, too, can let go of her burdens. Since I have followed the Buddha, I feel that I am truly the luckiest being in existence. I hope that my mother’s heart can also be free from too many worries. I hope she will make a vow to entrust her heart to the Buddha and truly, finally, let go of all her suffering.

Your child, with palms pressed together in gratitude.

Namo Amituofo."
