The Demon's Defiance
An Interview with the Plague Demon Chenhui
Recorded on August 4, 2021
This is an interview with the plague demon Chenhui, who attempted to attack Practitioner Su at the Hsiang Kuang Buddhist Centre. After being captured, the demon is currently being held at the centre to be transformed. This interview was recorded on August 4, 2021, by the chief writer, Shi Fajing.
Chenhui Demon speaks:
"Let me go! I do not want to stay here!"
The Audacity of Practitioner Su
"Practitioner Su has more nerve than any of us demons! To think he would dare to capture us—the great demons! Now, I am bound by these chains, and my demonic power has completely vanished. I am helpless, unable to do a single thing. Why is this happening to me? How could I, a being of such immense power, be reduced to this state?
Today, five of us great demons led our respective demon children and grandchildren to patrol near this place. We were ready to strike the moment we found a target! I have known about this person called Practitioner Su for a long time. I have seen this white house emitting golden light every single day, but it never concerned me. I chose to ignore it; I had no intention of ever coming near this place. But today, when I arrived in the vicinity and heard that Practitioner Su was planning to take action against this current pandemic, my fire of hatred erupted instantly. It was as violent and fierce as a volcanic eruption!"
A Volcanic Eruption of Hatred
"My entire body was burning with flames, and I was absolutely furious. Without a moment's hesitation, I charged straight at Practitioner Su. The other four great demons were just as enraged as I was, and they all brought their demon children and grandchildren along with them! The protectors surrounding the temple could not stop us. Our momentum and our force were incredibly powerful, and when combined with our demonic strength, we were truly formidable. These Dharma protectors were simply no match for us; we did not even consider them a threat.
The moment we charged onto Practitioner Su's head, ready to unleash our various methods of attack, we were immediately discovered. I had thought that Practitioner Su would never be able to catch us, but to my utter shock, it took less than a few moments for us to be subdued and dragged away! What on earth is going on here? Why are we being locked up in this place, and what do they want from us?"
The Failure of Demon Power
"This scent of the lotus flower does not suit me at all. I originally intended to use my fire of hatred to burn this lotus to shreds, but when I tried to ignite my flames, they simply would not burn! My demonic power has completely vanished! It is infuriating! It is enough to make me die of rage! My nostrils have been puffing out smoke continuously. At first, the smoke was thick, but now it has calmed down a little, leaving only small wisps of smoke spraying out. My mouth is twitching slightly in frustration."
The Stubbornness of a Stone
"I truly never imagined that the power here would be so immense. There is a gentle energy constantly orbiting around me, trying to soften my heart. I have deliberately made myself as hard as a stone; no matter how they try to transform me, I will never soften! I refuse to listen to Practitioner Su's Dharma talks. I am still waiting, hoping that perhaps there will be an opportunity for me to escape this place. I have not yet caused all of humanity to fall ill, so how can I be locked up here? I must escape immediately to complete my mission! Namo Amituofo."
