Light and darkness represent two contrasting states of existence that permeate our world. They are not merely physical phenomena but are reflections of the internal states of all sentient beings. Depending on the path one follows and the actions one takes, beings find themselves living in vastly different environments. Some dwell in places of brilliant clarity, while others are born into realms of profound darkness. These environments are not accidental; they are the direct result of the laws of and cause and effect. As the saying goes, one reaps what one sows. The world we perceive is a manifestation of our own minds, which is why cultivating a heart of Goodness and sincerity is of the utmost importance for every practitioner.
For those sentient beings who seek liberation and the path to the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, the world of light is a manifestation of their own purified hearts. The most brilliant and radiant place in the entire Realm is the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss, where resides. Everything in that sacred realm is a manifestation of the Great Vows of Namo Amituofo. It is a place where suffering is unknown and where the light of wisdom shines eternally, guiding all beings toward their true nature.
Today, the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre stands as a sacred sanctuary where Namo Amituofo truly abides in the human world. Because of this divine presence, the Centre has become a beacon of immense light. Even from the heavens, one can perceive the brilliant glow emanating from this holy site. Namo Amituofo wishes for this place to be filled with the fragrance of precious virtues and for its light to shine without end, reaching out to the infinite number of suffering beings who are waiting to be saved. This light is not only the radiance of Namo Amituofo and Practitioner Su; it is also the collective light emitted by every member of the fourfold assembly of disciples who practise here.
The distance and intensity of this light depend entirely on the state of one's heart. Because each person's heart is different, the reach and the brilliance of the light they radiate will also vary. When you dedicate yourself to the practice, you become a vessel for this light. The more you purify your heart and align your intentions with the Universal Principle, the Truth, and the Right Way, the further your light will extend to touch those lost in the shadows. It is a collective effort of compassion, where every chant and every act of devotion contributes to the illumination of the world.
Conversely, there are places of deep darkness—realms devoid of light. These, too, are manifestations of the mind. In these desolate places, sentient beings gather in confusion and despair. These are the realms of the beings of the Three Evil Realms, the demon crowds, and those sentient beings who wander without a home or a guide. Whether they possess a physical form or are purely spiritual, their wisdom is clouded by the darkness of their own ignorance. They often wonder, when will they ever find liberation? Fortunately, at this very moment, Namo Amituofo is present at the Hsiang Kuang Pure Land Buddhist Centre. The Dharma rains are falling, and the waters of the Dharma are here to provide purification. It is the sincere wish of Namo Amituofo that all beings currently trapped in darkness may transition from the shadows into the light. May they join those already in the light, chant Buddha's name, and find their way to rebirth in the Western Pure Land of Ultimate Bliss.
